Failing to make weight is the reason Castillo has to fight today, his disregard for making weight caused him great financial loss.
thats a little harsh..but i feel you....they shouldn't get a title fight for at least 3-6 months.....hell a year would do....i'm not sure on the third offense cuz most boxers should know their body weight limits.... i like guzman and want him to win but if guzman can't handle making lightweight...then he should just stick to superfeather or featherweight....

and good useing castillo as an example

3-6 months is the time fighters at that level take off regardless, no champions are fighting 3 months after their last fights, only prospects and contenders on the rise with good promoters. A championship level fighter is only fighting 2-3 times a year max anyways. Barring them from fighting for a title for 3 months isn't going to do anything to them.

If he can't make lightweight, he probably can't make 130 or 126 either. He needs to be dedicated if he's going to be contending for titles because this was highly unprofessional on his behalf.

How do those odds work? I'm not a betting guy really so i never understood them lol

It means Joan never even bothered to make weight, remember JLC vs. Chico II?

I was using the speculative possibility that Guzman came in deliberately heavy to have the strength advantage, perhaps win, but, since he'd still be unbeaten, and a top attraction, could make enough PR for a rematch at the proper weight, and, having the psychological advantage against the presently strong-minded Campbell, would then win 3titles.

A potential victory would depend mainly on Campbell losing, not winning this present fight............

              What's not to understand??

I'm thinking the other way around, since Joan didn't even tried to make weight, that's a huge difference when your opponent is trying to starve himself to death and looking like a prune on the day of the weigh-in while here's Joan eating steak and lobsters and having his cake and eat it too. Just think along the lines of JL Castillo- Diego C. II, not very pretty...

Why on earth would Campbell give him a rematch when he pathetically disregarded the fight contract?

that'd be an interesting scenario as sometimes rematch clauses are in fight contracts .. but do the same rules apply if the fighter fails to make weight and title belts not on the line? interesting case

agree completely on the fines and suspensions for failing to make weight. and plus fighters would take it much more serious, if they couldn't fight for a title belt for 6 months.
