Partly, yes. One of the ways to stuff a takedown is by getting your arms/hands in the way.

well not in the traditional boxing type defense sense.

remember if you're a wrestler the best defense against strikes is to get a take down. with a bjj guy it's too clinch.

btw chuck might be known for strikes but not boxing. he's a kenpo karate guy with a wrestling background.

what made chuck known is being a striker that can't be taken down because of his wrestling skills.

to defend a takedown you need to sprawl.

you need your arms forward to push down on their head/neck/shoulder to sprawl.

Yeah, that's what I liked about Chuck, his opponents are forced to fight his style.

              exactly.

chuck is not the best striker in the world but he can outwrestle most strikers better than him and the better grapplers can't take him down.

plus he comes to fight. people knock his losses recently but the guy is no spring chicken. he's old now.

yes, but as you're sprawling the arms/hands should come to block or underhook

                    college? you'd own me then.

i can hang with most high school guys but most of the college guys at my friends wrestling club is too good for me. (never really trained just hit the mat with my high school buds on the wrestling team and later their wrestling club in college)
