Last nights UFC card compared to HBO's BAD.

I was actually watching both the UFC fights, and the BAD HBO fights (switching back and forth). I had a friend of mine over who is also a diehard boxing fan just like me. He made an interesting point that im sure many of you here wont agree with. He said that for $44.95, you get more for your money watching a MMA card, than u do watching a ppv boxing match. In boxing u get 1 main event, with 2-3 undercards, whereas in UFC/MMA, almost every fight onthe card is a championship/main event fight.

We kept going back and forth between channels, and we both agreed on the fact that the UFC fights kept us more on the edge of our seats than the boxing matches that were going on, due to the fact that when both fighters were standing (in ufc), we didnt know what to expect. It could be a punch, kick to the head, elbow, take down, knee, etc. In boxing, its pretty basic, and u kind of know what to expect from the opening bell. Now im not trying to praise mma and put boxing down, but i can see how some mma viewers can see boxing as "bland" compared to mma in some instances.

Now i enjoyed both boxing matches yesterday. I felt they were very entertaining, but towards the middle -late rounds of the Diaz/Katsidis fight, i found myself yawning just a bit. Not because it was boring, but because it was repetitive. Each round looked like the previous round.

Some, if not, most of u guys here shun upon MMA, and that's your preference. I personally am a fan of both. Most of u guys here see submission fighting as "gay", but i would love to see one of u guys get it on with a world class submission specialist, and tell him that it is gay when he has you in tears from a submission hold. LOL. It takes much skill to perfect the art of submission. One wrong move or turn, and one of your limbs/joints will snap like a pretzel stick.

So lets all appreciate both sports for what they are. I've seen some VERY boring boxing matches, and the same goes for mma. No need to keep with the back and forth about what sport is better.

    Your thoughts?

I also watched both events (had them on the computer screen simultaneously) basically watching what was eye-catching.

I enjoyed both events but anyone looking to make a direct comparison between the two is comparing apples to oranges. Nobody says you have to like all combat sports but a fan of any combat sport should be highly appreciative of the dedication, skill and hard work that goes into competitions of this nature.

If you don't like something, don't watch it but don't hate on it either and give it the respect it deserves.

you get more for your money watching a MMA card because Dana white dont pay his fighters ****! Wait untill they start complaining and he's forced to pay them some real money, we'll see if he still puts up the same kind of cards.

What should we as fans care what the promoters pay thier fighters? These fighters work for us! They provide entertainment for us, and in return we purchase the ppvs. Without paying fans, what would any sport be?

I never said it bored. In fact you're right, Diaz did put on a very impressive clinic. I only said that the match became very repetitive towards the middle-late rounds.

You like the boxing aspect of MMA(stand up). Everything else about MMA is boring as ****, I dont even acknowledge it because I think armbars are gay as ****. I honestly heard nothing about this fight til yesterday and it seems to me that the MMA love is over. We seen it just like we seen k-1 a while back and only the fans that liked it before hand like it now for the most part. MMA is nothing to me, I dont respect it and dont even consider their fighters true athletes. I know they train and do this and that but it doesn't get any respect from me.

God I'm so sick of you UFC clowns. Just go away and stop mimicking that same old bull**** about UFC's better qualities. Join an exclusively MMA forum.

Thats what I don't get. Guys like Lidell are superstars for their STAND UP skills. STAND UP (i.e BOXING)?? Doesn't really make sense. Basically they like the boxing aspects of MMA.

If its such a gay sport that u dont respect, why do u sound so bitter and mad? Its like one time when i was arrested for some nonsense. The cop was cursing me out and calling me scum, etc. I turned around and said "if im such a piece of ****, why are u the one who's mad? LOL. Im the one getting arrested, shouldnt i be mad?"
