So, if Taylor is the only worth noting win of Pavlik's career, then I guess beating Miranda would mean that Arthur Abraham has NO notable wins at all. Am I hearing this correctly?

Hopkins= The man (20 MW title defenses in 10 years)

Taylor= The man who beat the man (2x) making him the man

Pavlik= The man who beat the man who beat the man (2x) making him the CURRENT man

I would say that makes him very deserving of his status and nowhere near a hypejob. Calzaghe is a hipocrit if he says that a fight with Pavlik was offered when he had an obligation to give Taylor a rematch @ 160. That would be the very same thing that he critisizes Pavlik for doing by asking for a fight when Joe is signed to fight Jones. Pavlik called him out in June anyways, before the Jones fight was signed. How does he explain that? Calzaghe is really starting to get on my nerves now. I cannot wait until Roy beats his a55 and spreads the humble pie around a little.

using that logic, what excuse does mayweather have for ducking cotto or marg?

Yes, he is a promising fighter, but two wins over Taylor doesn't make you a Calzaghe beater. As Calzaghe stated in the interview above, he loves it when his oppenents come to him. If you have seen the Lacy fight you will understand why. Pavlik would have a better chance of winning if he lets Joe come to him, but I doubt Pavlik will change his whole gameplan to adapt to Calzaghe. However, if this fight does happen and Pavlik does win, I will give him all the credit in the world, because he will be the first man to beat a truly special fighter.
He would be the 2nd, after Rjj.

i agree in the fact that the taylor wins are not given enough stock as they should. taylor is vastly underrated imo. i think he fought a great fight against kelly in the 2nd fight. i still expect big things out of him.

Then he wants to fight Pavlik when he knew damn well Pavlik had to have a rematch with Taylor.

The guy should just stop talking. He digs himself deeper and deeper every time.
Every time he talks he shows what a dumbass he truly is.

I really can't say anything about Calzaghe other than he's just trying to sell this fight. Everyone knows he said that he didn't want to fight Roy and now the fight is on. Everyone knows that this fight is to put another name on his resume (win, lose or draw) and to collect the huge payday (probably the biggest purse of his career).

He has alot more to lose in this fight with Roy than he would in fighthing Pavlik. If somehow Roy can turn back the clock enough to get a win and look great doing it, how will people view Joe? Every article and every thread on the fight will say that Joe was overrated b/c he got beat by a past his prime Roy Jones. If he wins, he beat a past his prime Roy Jones.

In fighting Pavlik, if he wins it only solidifies his status as one of the best pound for pound. If he loses, he lost to a hungry, younger fighter and he won't take half the pounding by the media and fans.

Being a Roy fan, after this fight, win or lose, it's time to hang them up.

pavlik is good but no where near calz level.

ABRAHAM deserves a shot at pavlik more than pavlik does at calz.

In my estimation, Kessler would easily beat Taylor, and if that is truly the case thats all you need to know as far as who has beat the better opponent.

Saying all that I think he should fight him and think Pavlik deserves a shot, but lets be honest you guys would have Calzaghe fightin until he's 40, and you'd give Pavlik credit for beating Joe at 37 wheareas if Calz beats Roy Jones, oh no its not worth anything, he's over the hill and not worth a damn.
                    A few things here.

1)Joe will not beat Roy, so that win will not have a chance to get critisized.

2)Please explain how you think Kessler would beat Jermain Taylor?
a.Taylor beat Hopkins (2) times , easier that Calzaghe didand Joe beat Kess easy.
b.Kessler only beat one or two "decent" fighters.(Mundine&Beyer)
c.Kessler lost when he stepped up when Pavlik flourished.

3)A win over Roy Jones does alot for Joe. He gets his best payday + exposure fighting a living legend & getting a chance to claim that he beat the best at or around his weight before he retired. Even now, Jones is very dangerous to a fighter without one punch KO power. I cannot see Joe winning this fight on workrate alone. He is not accurate enough and does not hit hard enough to make Jones go all defensive. Mark my words on this: If Jones is not all defensive in this fight, he will NOT lose. Rjj is way faster, has more power and is several classes more acurate. Doom for Calzaghe.

I thought Joe didnt wanna fight Roy all those years ago. Doesnt seem to be the story here.

Pavlik hasnt even proved he's the best Middleweight in the world but he thinks he can call out the Light Heavyweight Champ. He's another Lacy, a young Yank KO artist that everyone is creaming their panties over.

Joe would slap the **** out of him and then he'd become "overrated". Next bandwagon - Chad Dawson.
