I'll keep my ears open. But like I said, everthing I've ever heard or read had Louis at under 200. Who knows though, you could very well be right.

          here it is guys.

          first paragraph.

It was a scenario that had been repeated many times before, a good little man versus a good big man: Corbett versus Sullivan, Dempsey versus Willard, and the classic, David versus Goliath. Now it was to be Billy Conn, the former light heavyweight champion who had given up his lighter crown to take on the heavyweight champion of the world, Joe Louis. The fight was to be Conn's 174 ½ pounds vs. Louis' 199 -- their announced weight, although their actual weight was really 169 and 204 -- boxer versus puncher, machine gun versus howitzer.

I've always said that the weight excuse is way overused. very rarely is it such a big factor. like with tito-bernard or even mayweather-hatton. I think the size had less to do with the out come of those fights than the actual difference in skill level. just look at chagaev-valuev. if chagaev can pull off a win over someone that is 12 inches and 100pounds heavier, nobody should be making any excuses for their fighter's size differential.

you gotta take physics into account though.
could floyd beat roy jones ?
              no.
once you get to those freakish sizes it doesn't matter much.

Interesting. Thanks for the link, Alpha. There are a lot of claims made on here, but rarely are they backed up. Whether its true or not is tough to say, but its cool you posted it.

Conn looked awesome in this fight. His speed and combination punching is a sight to see.

yeah thats a whole other story. I'm not saying that size NEVER plays a part in fight outcomes but when ppl start saying that hopkins beat up smaller guys like DLH or tito, I find that ridiculous. especially that he weighed the same as both fighters and tito has a reach advantage over hopkins and he is only 1 inch shorter while DLH is only 2 inches shorter.

the excuse was also used in the hatton-mayweather fight which is ridiculous even more so cuz I believe hatton is naturally bigger. mayweather started his career at 130 and hatton started his career at 140 and he even had trouble making weight for a couple of his fights and at the weigh-in you can see that the height difference is more like 1 inche rather than 2inches as they are listed.
