I went with the third option because it seems like the only situation that can't really be picked apart. If a fighter beats someone who people agree is solid and at their peak then that points to the winner being potentially better then simply "good".

when you name a good fighter though the usual response is...... "who the hell is that? he was a bum."

Yeah, That fight wouldn't have been all that close if Oscar had fought the last few rounds IMO.
