That is a pretty bold statement. As talented as he was, i'd say top 50 all-time. I wouldn't put him near the top 20, but its all opinion so i respect your decision.
I realize it's a bold statement, but I think his accomplishments are satisfactory.
At the age of 23 he already beat Azumah Nelson and Wilfredo Gomez, two HOF fighters. Furthermore, he also beat Little Red Lopez, Rubin Castillo 2x and Juan laporte. So he beat 2 definite HOF fighters and as many as 5 HOF fighters, considering the others may eventually be inducted, all before his 24th birthday, seriously, WTF!
Even with his shortened lifespan, I think he makes the cut.
Exactly, overtime he would have been one of the greatest boxers of all-time, he clearly was one of the most talented to have stepped into the ring.
The Gomez win is the definitely the strongpoint of his career and wins over Lopez and Nelson (unknown at the time) are written into history as great wins as the fighters achieved great careers themselves, but i see Sanchez more of what could have been rather then what was. The Laporte win was good but not great as it was a step in class for Laporte, also he always came in second best when head to head with world-class opponents.
