First off, Miguel Cotto is a much better fighter than Felix Trinidad ever was. This always catches flack with Tito supporters but Trinidad was as one dimensional as one dimensional can get. He was a power puncher who always relied on the big shot to end the fight. Any time he was ever in over his head he showed a fundamental lack of ability to adapt. (See the first 8 rounds against Oscar, the entire Hopkins fight, and the Wright fight.)

Cotto is superior to Tito is ever possible aspect of the game, save for power punching. He can box when he needs to, he moves his head well, great ring movement, he's a better technician, etc....

Tito could not run from Tony, because A.) he's too prideful and B.) he's too ****** to know how. So his only choice would be to brawl Margarito. It then becomes a question of who's chin or body would break first, and that's up for debate.

One thing I know for sure is that if Trinidad couldn't take it, he wouldn't last as long as Cotto did because he isn't smart enough to get out of the way of incoming damage.
    now thats a good reply
but the fact is margarito is being underrated because he is of this era
while tito was from that era
ppl tend to believe fighters from the past would smoke today fighters, because they focus to much on today fighters flaws
for all we know margarito can have a marvin hagler type of chin, i mean he hasnt been hurt by the most devastating punchers of this era at his division like cintron or cotto
yes he got hurt against santos but he never was on risk of getting knocked out

It would be a good fight and I wish I could see it, but I say 10 round KO, Felix "Tito" Trinidad.
Tito is nowhere near the harderst puncher in Welterweight history..

You're fool if you think otherwise.

Its a really tough call. Tito is always susceptible to getting knocked down. Against a bomber like Tony, thats not a good idea for anybody. However, more often than not, Trinidad got back up with a vicious rally.

Too tough to call for me.

          Gotto go with Tito.

His headhunting will take its toll on Margarito no matter how tough that head can be.

You don't stand toe to toe with him and expect to finish the fight with your head intact. Especially when you belong in the same weight class.

Margarito is no Hopkins. His head is ever available. There is no such thing as an uncrackable head.

Very good post, never thought of it like that, usually, from what I've seen between two "come forward" fighters, the better chin wins, regardless of who hits harder.

And I have to point out that Santos has REAL one punch power. I watched his early fights, he can really crack. Plus when he fought Tony, he was weighing 170lbs.

Tito's always had a suspect chin, and Tony's pressure, body attack and volume punching wear on opponents. He makes 'em work every minute of every round. He would basically double B-Hops output against Trinidad. Tony took Kermit's best shots, I think he could take the 147lbs version of Tito's best shots.
This is irrelevant, NOBODY walks through Tito's punches for 12 rounds. You forget one thing. Kermit Cintron is crap. He can punch, but he has poor accuracy, he has poor boxing skills, he is bad at finding his range.

Tito is GOOD at finding his range. Has EXCELLENT accuracy, has GOOD boxing skills.

I honestly don't care who you are. Or how tough you are, how hard your chin is. Your head will literally fall off of your body before you survive 12 rounds of Trinidad unloading left hooks to your face.

Plain and simple, Tito against Margarito would've be the same that
                    Tito vs Yori Boy Campas.

The_Bringers portrayal of Trinidad as a one dimensional punching machine is inaccurate. Granted Trinidad is not the boxer Cotto is, he is by no means ******, and by no stretch of the imagination a bad boxer.
