Wait Winky got $3 Mill for Ike Quartey?

wow, an easy W for him, not to mention on HBO vs an opponent moving up in weight.

how is 3 Mill bad for a fight like that? granted it's not PPV, but $3 Million is $3 Million.

It was CLEARLY a lowball offer from Arum because he didn't want Pavlik looking like an amateur against someone dangerous like Wright.

Wright has a $2.5million guarantee with HBO who owes him a fight so why would he fight for chump change like $750K when Williams was offered over $1 Million to make the fight?

        750K is a BS offer...
if Winky took that promoters would take advantage of it and keep offering him that kinda money...

he wants a huge payday in fighting DLH, a potential loss to pav wont make that happen

Winky reminds me of boxing's version of Chuck Connelly (artist, who painted my avatar pic). Connelly once sold a painting for $5 million, and because of that he thought every painting he did should be worth that amount. Winky's the same way in a boxing sense, just because he got $3 million once he thinks he should always get that.

The dude is a joke. Don't get me wrong, he's a great defensive craftsman but you have to take into account he hasn't fought in over a year, has never been a marquee name, and his best days are behind him.

Either cash in or get the **** out. He's not going to get the kind of cashflow he thinks he's worth, because in reality.....he isn't worth it.

A Winky v Pavlik fight should earn him more than that going off some of todays paydays. But he must have earned enough now to be comfortable for life so maybe the chance to dethrown one of the highest regarded fighters in the world shouldnt be entirely about money.

Maybe he is holding out for De La Hoya to come knocking on the door with a huge offer.

well winky was a great fighter prime and at 54. now he is inactive, old, and still demanding the kind of money, and big fights as if he is a major player in the sport. imo his days of living of his 54 glory are gone. i like the guy, but lets face it, he got shots at taylor, and bhop over more deserving fellas, and drew/lost. therefore, he has no more room to make demands, and should either take what he gets, get some good wins, a decent ranking, and than he can get paid again. till he does that he needs to stfu, and fight for what he can for the time being, re-initiate his name in the top of the game, or just stfu about it, andget out of the game altogether.

It has nothing to do with Pavlik, and everything to do with Winky. Winky has said he's not retired, and he wants to fight again. Well if that's the case he needs to get off of his ass and make it happen. And not sit there and turn down offers from everybody because they're not offering him what he thinks he's worth.

Winky is not worth more than a million dollars anymore, he's not. I'd say the same thing if it was some average guy offering him $750K, not the undefeated, undisputed Middleweight Champion of the World who's becoming a superstar in the sport.

Don't hold your breath for anybody offering him $2.5 million for a fight, I doubt he'll break $1 million.

Hopkins really did milk carton his ass.

Pissed. I like Winky and always thought he could beat Pavlik. He showed in his fights wit Soliman, Taylor, Ike, and even a lil bit in the Mosley fights he can mix it up when he has to. And he has a boxing style that involves comin forward nonstop as opposed to runnin around and clinchin all the time. I was glad to see him get his shine in '04 and '05, and it sucks he blew his P4P elite status by bein inactive. If he came back now, I don't think he'd have more than 1 fight left in him. He's wasted too much time bitchin about money.
