true.......especially having to earn that paycheck fighting Pavlik

im sure Winkys thinking..."I couldnt take out Jermain and look what Pavlik did to him, he aint gonna be no pushover."

When name fighters get old, they have to be extremely savvy in what fights they pick. Because any loss on the grand stage can lead to a steep decline in terms of their career. If Winky is gonna take on a Pavlik, he'd be hoping for much more than 750K, knowing that the money would only decrease if he lost. Not that I agree with it, but thats the way it is.

Winky hasn't fought in over a year. He better start getting busy if he wants to still make the big bucks in this business. Fighters that go through long periods of inactivity, especially fighters with boring styles who aren't too popular with the fans (like Winky's), usually lose their market values quite quickly. There are only a handfull of fighters that can take long layoffs and come back and get a big payday (Winky isn't one of them).

Yes, Arum lowballed him, but he should've taken the fight just to prove that he's game and that he believes in himself enough to beat Pavlik. I think Winky has a good chance of walking away with a W against Pavlik but he has to step in the ring with him first. Also, the big bucks are made AFTER you get a belt, which Winky hasn't done at Middleweight.

lol.....what a ****ing clown arum is.........winky deserves much more than that...hell winky earned 3 mill fighting quartey....he made more ppv sells as trinidads B side than Jones Jr.....his fight with jt had better ratings than pavlik-taylor......his ppv with hopkins was top 4 for HBO last year....sold more than taylor-pavlik 2....

all your numbers prove is arum wants nothing to do with a winky fight for pavlik

That fight wouldnt do so great, no one really knows them.

No, I'd give him very little chance against Kessler at this stage of his career. Especially since the fight would probably have to be in Denmark unless HBO wanted to buy it.

Agree 100% on this. It's just that the good paying options at 160 are sparse. You know that Sturm's people will keep him away from Winky.

It looks to me that the desire has gone. I bet Winky's career is over.

160 lbs isn't exactly loaded with talent. 168 is much better IMO. For the record Winky turned down Mikkel Kessler stating that he wouldn't fight above 160.

Winky is worth more than 750K, period. Winky would give Pavlik or Kessler a good fight and I would not be surprised if he pulled out a decision win over either.
