How does Winky turning down $750K

for the Pavlik fight make you feel?

This guys an idiot. He hasnt fought in like 12 years and he expects to rake in millions? He should be grateful he was offered that much. Quintana made about $300K for the first fight with Williams.

    WTF

    His career is over.

RIP Winky. Your defense will be missed.

I understand your point, but it's hard to be grateful for that kind of money when you got paid 3 million just to fight Ike Quartey. Sure Winky was overpaid, but nobody likes taking a cut in pay. As the saying goes, it's all relative.

He may feel he can't win.

As many fighters do when they get old, He probably wants a huge retirement payday.

I get you but he might end up not getting any more offers. If he does, they might be even smaller than that and he'll go around kicking himself in the ass for turning down Pavlik.

This is the middleweight match-up I most wanted to see at this point due to Winky's age (if it's going to happen, it needs to happen now while it can be competitive). Winky should have perhaps thought of it as a legacy fight (and a ticket to a much higher payday in a subsequent bout) rather than a small payday in isolation.

Why would Arum only offer Winky 750K and then turn around and offer Williams over a million?

At least Winky is proven to be a tough customer at middleweight.

You can't look at it like that because taking paycuts hurt your future earnings. If you take $750K for a fight of that magnitude, what's to stop promoters from offering you that kind of money for other big fights in the future?

I dont blame him since Giovanni Lorenzo was being offered the same kind of money and Paul Williams was offered 1.1.
