Pavlik is not too one dimensional to beat Hopkins. 3 or 4 fights ago, sure, he would've gotten schooled. If the two fights with Taylor, and the fight with Lockett are any indication, he's improving. For one, he showed heart, and the ability to take a good punch. In the second fight with Taylor, he showed in the late rounds that he not only can he mix it up to the body when it's not expected, but he also has crazy good stamina. In Pavlik's fight with Lockett, while certainly not a grade-A contest, Pavlik was mixing up the angles and throwing all sorts of combinations. He is improving with every fight, and starting to adapt his gameplan when the same ol' isn't working. I expect B-Hop to look good in the early rounds, but Pavlik's stamina and heart, along with a few change ups will give him the late rounds. Knocking B-Hop out seems to be nearly impossible, but he could knock him down.

The point about stamina will prove problematic for B-Hop, who has faded in the late rounds recently, especially against JoeC when he was starting to get dominated. When Slappy started landing punches that made sweat fly off the old man's head, and Hop had to fake a low-blow (which we all know it was faked...you'd have to be a complete moron to think otherwise), then we know he has stamina issues against guys with a high work-rate. Well, Pavlik throws 80 punches a round, and they all land a lot harder. Sure, Hopkins looked really good for the first 4 or 5 rounds, but then Calzaghe settled down, and it really wasn't even close after that. I was rooting for Pops the whole time, but I'm not blind. If both fighters were younger, I doubt it would have been much different. Joe would have had a little more power and speed than he does currently, and Hopkins wasn't quite as crafty, despite his physical gifts.

      Who is this Calzaghe guy?

He wants about as much of Pavlik as De La Hoya wants of Margarito. Zip. Nada.

Pavlik hasn't "earned" the right to fight him but Peter Manfredo has? WTF?
Bottom line: Calzaghe wants no part of a younger, power punching and tall fighter like Pavlik.

Why does everyone automatically take Bob Arum's word for it and assume Joe is the one doing the ducking?? typical Americans viewing the world through star spangled glasses.

Where do you get this American bias from? The answer is right there in your face and yet you chose to ignore it and blame it on American bias.

Why would Calzaghe offer him a fight after his Lacy victory?
Pavlik was a relative nobody who had no quality wins and was an underdog in both the Taylor and Miranda fights. If this is true why would the Calzaghe team say "Pavlik is not worthy" when they offered him a fight as a green contender? Also how come he never mentioned this when Leow and Pavlik claimed Calzaghe didn't want to fight them?

THE EVIDENCE IS RIGHT HERE LOOK IT UP

Nobody is taking Arum's word for it, we're going by what we see, which is Kelly calling out Joe after the Lockett fight, and Enzo and Joe suddenly saying a Pavlik fight was not an option because he was too green for Joe.

                  wtf....

Kind of contradicting? Its funny that back when Calzaghe fought Lacy, KELLY PAVLIK was worthy of a fight. NOW all of a sudden, Kelley is a champ and has a 90% KO rate, Yet he's not WORTHY NOW????? Joe is a COMPLETE moron. Dude consistently contradicts himself MORE than some of the people on this site. Its sad because NOT only does Joe do it but his fans will follow like SHEEP... I also love the fact that JOE stated that "to be a great fighter you consistently have to be in the big fights". LOL WTF is he serious? Who is he to talk? He "CLAIMS" to challenge PAV not once BUT twice..... LOL YET NOW.... NOW he is not worthy!!! I'm pulling the BS flag! Joe is a moron yet again!

Calzaghe loves to call out fighters when they're not ready for a fight. When Pavlik was ready, Calzaghe wanted no part of him. ****, he is doing the same thing with Jones. When RJJ was in his prime, he didn't want anything to do with him. But not that he's 40 Calzaghe jumps on that fight...
