When Jeff Lacy fought Joe C. he had recently won his belt. Now Joe nowhere in that great cond. And won't fight another recently crown Champ K Pavlik, Too Tall Too Youg Too strong but wants to fight an old Roy J who suffered 3 horrible Knock outs.
Just the thought of fighting Pavlik has Calzaghe confused
First you say he hasn't earned the right to fight you? Then you contradict yourself by saying you offered him a fight? Does the thought of fighting Pavlik have you that confused? We all remember how you were the first fighter to jump on his nuts after he knocked out Taylor when you said, "now we know who the real middleweight champion is" and yes you called him out but he had a mandatory. What happened next is he beat the dog **** out of your stable mate (Gary Lockett) prompting your dad to stop talking about fighting Pavlik.. cause he saw first hand how he would whup your ass. Keep it real. The only reason you dont want to fight Pavlik is because he will knock your punk ass out.
not sure how calzaghe was gonna fight pavlik after the taylor fight when an automatic rematch was in the contract. did your ****** ass team contact pavlik knowing there was no way in hell he could get out of that fight. i bet you lil devils did.

All Joe's doing is covering his tracks and at the same time building a potential fight Pavlik. It's genius on his part. If you read the article, Joe calls RJJ a legend (which he is imo.) while calling Pavlik a promising champion. This means that if JC loses to RJJ, then he would have lost to a legend - which is bearable I guess. At the same time, his remarks about Kessler in another interview also mean that if Hopkins beats Pavlik, then JC doesn't have to fight Pavlik - since he has already beaten Hopkins...
BUT
Should both he and Pavlik win their respective bouts, the stage is set for their big showdown. The thrash talking has already started and it will build and build - I guess in a hope to create more attention to the fight for the peripheral boxing fans in order to gain more PPV buys.
I'm not a JC fan but after watching him over the years I know this: Calzaghe doesn't duck anyone - he just waits until it's the most profitable time to face them. There's no way in hell JC will retire if both he and Pavlik wins - he'll miss out out on too much money and that's not Calzaghe's style.

Calzaghe and Jones are both legends, so it's fine that they are fighting now. I guess it's a "better late than never" scenario. Whoever wins, it won't be their last fight, I guarantee it.
Pavlik is not too one dimensional to beat Hopkins. 3 or 4 fights ago, sure, he would've gotten schooled. If the two fights with Taylor, and the fight with Lockett are any indication, he's improving. For one, he showed heart, and the ability to take a good punch. In the second fight with Taylor, he showed in the late rounds that he not only can he mix it up to the body when it's not expected, but he also has crazy good stamina. In Pavlik's fight with Lockett, while certainly not a grade-A contest, Pavlik was mixing up the angles and throwing all sorts of combinations. He is improving with every fight, and starting to adapt his gameplan when the same ol' isn't working. I expect B-Hop to look good in the early rounds, but Pavlik's stamina and heart, along with a few change ups will give him the late rounds. Knocking B-Hop out seems to be nearly impossible, but he could knock him down.
The point about stamina will prove problematic for B-Hop, who has faded in the late rounds recently, especially against JoeC when he was starting to get dominated. When Slappy started landing punches that made sweat fly off the old man's head, and Hop had to fake a low-blow (which we all know it was faked...you'd have to be a complete moron to think otherwise), then we know he has stamina issues against guys with a high work-rate. Well, Pavlik throws 80 punches a round, and they all land a lot harder. Sure, Hopkins looked really good for the first 4 or 5 rounds, but then Calzaghe settled down, and it really wasn't even close after that. I was rooting for Pops the whole time, but I'm not blind. If both fighters were younger, I doubt it would have been much different. Joe would have had a little more power and speed than he does currently, and Hopkins wasn't quite as crafty, despite his physical gifts.
Doesn't make sense that he wanted to fight Pavlik after Lacy, back then Pavlik wasn't very well known at all and didn't he already sign on to fight Kessler by the time Pavlik became champion?
Exactly, after Calzaghe beat Lacy,NO ONE knew who Pavlik was,why would Joe want to fight him then, when he was a unknown middleweight fighter? I dont beleave it,that,IMO is a big lie
