Furthermore, Joe maintains this is his final fight.

It was a radion station called FM106 Newstalk

Im deadly serious anyway guys, I dont have a habit of posting lies if anyone knows me.

When joe said this is definitly my last fight, the presenter said 'So you wont be fighting Kelly Pavlik? He was clamoring for you all last week.'

Thats when Joe said all that.

Also strangely the presenter brought up about Roy's incident with the steroid abuse and Joe said he's not worried about it aslong as Roy doesnt use them on him, lol. He did say though that he would recommend that Roy be examined closely around the fight for drug intake. I thought that was a bit lame, considering he's supposed to have a good deal of respect for Roy.

Although this is the first I've heard of it, and I have no idea if it really is true or not, taking it at face value its not so unlikely they offered Pavlik the Bika fight. I can remember at the time that Pavlik was regarded as a goodish MW guy, certainly nothing like now, probably much closer to Bika's level so I could imagine his name being thrown into the ring when Joe was looking for a tune-up type opponent that would get a litle notice in the US. It does make sense.

As for whether it is true or not, who knows?

EDIT: True by Joe starjammer, not you.

that would have been a HUGE step up for PAVLIK, so of coarse thats when Calzaghe called him out lol.

And of COARSE Pavlik couldnt fight him after Taylor 1 because there was an immediate rematch clause. So of COARSE thats when Calzaghe is gonna call him out. LOL

Well Pavlik had to fight a rematch against Taylor so I can't blame him for turning it down. Unless he meant after the second Taylor fight?

What, so you think that back in 2006, before anyone knew Pavlik was any good Joe called him out for a tuneup fight because he had correctly identified that the young man he would beat in that tuneup fight would one day go on to be a huge threat to him? Probably.

Maybe Joe just wanted a slightly well known but beatable American opponent?

IF any of this is true.

Yeah he must have meant after the the second one. Unless when Arum didn't think Taylor was going to take the rematch and they were talking about some other opponents.
