I highly doubt Pavlik is even the slightest bit afraid of Calzaghe.
Exactly, im predicting Jones beats Calzaghe, forcing him to go back down to SMW and accept he has no place at LHW. this way calzaghe will already have a loss and will not be able to live his drea and retire undefeated. this forces him to fight Pavlik, who beats hopkins and forces him to go back to 175 to fight Jones. this way we have calzaghe who isnt scared of losing his undefeated record anymore, go up against Pavlik. and Jones jr vs bhop

I do find it odd how Americans whom travel the least feel equipped to say everyone else to come and travel to them.

Come the **** to where ever else in the world for christs sake, USA does not = world or the complete world of boxing.

A good few Americans had no problems coming over to the UK. Calzaghe wanted to fight in LA and now in NY. Quit the whining already.

Yeah but no-one wanted to come to the UK and receive the short end of the stick. RJJ didnt want to because of what happened in Korea. in any case the Biggest money fights are always in Las Vegas or NY

Whilst I see what you saying in the end I think it comes down to where the fight will make the most money and in 99% of cases that is in America. I have no problem with the guys over in the UK fighting in their home country because that is where they are most known and where they can maximise their earnings. What really annoys me is when that indiot Mundine comes out and says Pavlik is ducking him because he won't come to Australia to fight him...

I totally agree there mate. Where fights happen are a funny one and could do with some over hauling. I think more transparency is needed in the deal making of fights which to me seems is progressing. Then people can judge based on facts, what's happened and why. Osca's pissing me off right now demanding 70-30 off the p4p #1, saying he will fight Marg, then wont cos he's Mexican, then will again. Rings a bell I know, but Osca's acting like he's p4p #2 and king of boxing or summet. I think more fights should occur in more places, and hope that progresses too with increased globalisation. Is only good in helping us judge the best boxers - in the world.

I see what you are saying with this and I am a massive Oscar fan so perhaps am a little biased but I also love Manny a lot so I think I can look at the subject reasonably objectively. To be honest I understand both guy's stance on the money issue. Oscar is saying he brings in the bucks therefore why shouldn't he take most of them away. He probably thought his split was generous as Manny would still be earning a great deal more than any of his previous fights. On the other hand Manny is the top rated guy in the sport right now and probably thinks he deserves a bit more respect than that kind of split. Whatever the case may be I am glad the fight is not going to get made, Oscar is way to big and would have given Manny a whooping. Personally I hope Oscar fights Mora as I am not particularly fond of the man and would love to see Oscar give him a beating.

I can remember at the time that Pavlik was regarded as a goodish MW guy, certainly nothing like now, probably much closer to Bika's level so I could imagine his name being thrown into the ring when Joe was looking for a tune-up type opponent that would get a litle notice in the US. It does make sense.

As for whether it is true or not, who knows?

EDIT: True by Joe starjammer, not you.
Like you say its not a stretch to say they offered him the Bika fight as lots of fighters get mentioned but thats far from a serious offer , what really doesnt sit right with me is that is first heard of now , that is very strange indeed considering the noise made by Jack Lowe and the talk of Cal ducking Kelly for Jones , its very oddball to say this now and personally I would not bet on it being true , the other thing is the dates and Kelly not even in his division , something just seems fishy with these comments .

I can't believe this article simply because one was up and the other was down at the time. Pavlik was still getting his record in tact and had not fought anyone worthy opponents at the time. If this is true, then Calzaghe would really look bad. On espn shortly after the Miranda fight, Pavlik clearly stated that he is willing go to Wales to fight him.
