I just had a thought that Hatton and Calzaghe's last fights will probably be in the states? How ironic that these two spent most of thier careers here in the UK, get slagged off about and then head over to the states, make a killing(money) and don't want to come back LOL!

P.S, i didn't count Hatton's so called thank you fight against Lazcano which was PPV(£15.99) by the way.

Come the **** to where ever else in the world for christs sake, USA does not = world or the complete world of boxing.

A good few Americans had no problems coming over to the UK. Calzaghe wanted to fight in LA and now in NY. Quit the whining already.
I dont come from America and Ive followed boxing for over 40 yrs and I believe the USA is and always will be the Core of world boxing , the best fighters fight there sooner or later because the fighters themselves know its the top of the hill how can you deny it when the entire active participants of world boxing know it , only fans not active in the sport say otherwise .

Im in the same boat as you Kris in seeing our home grown boys developed first with domestic then with imports , hand picked imports , imports brought over to lose , and the best imports will not come here for the same reasons they wont go to the UK or Europe whether you like it not thats just the way it is in the real world .

With boxing in Aus and when a fighter is above domestic level I dont give him any respect untill they go to the US and prove themselves against real opponents that are in it to win it , lots of world sports have dominate countrys that are the real proving ground of that sport , with boxing its the USA .

If he did offer Pavlik a fight back in 2006, it makes him look worse.

Offer him a fight when he is an inexperienced prospect, then fast forward to 2008 when Pavlik is more experienced established champion and then call him unworthy of a match.

Joe is a good fighter, but he is full of contradictions and frankly full of ****.

If you are gonna lie, at least try to cover your tracks.

Exactly. I wish, for once, Calzaghe fans could just be objective and not try to justify everything that comes out his mouth.

You think he's a great figher? Fine. P4P #1? OK.

But come on, guys. These comments are nonsensical and make Calzaghe look like an utter twat. Why does he deem Pavlik worthy of a fight when he was making his way up, and not when he's on the P4P list?

Nice post. Mine wasn't at you by the way I know where your from and love the place. I agree with some of the sentiments. I accept Boxing is big time in America and is important in making careers, but the rest of the world is catching up and I don't see why the stereo type has to persist, when that's the case. Many tops guys are non american, infact quite far away. Networks and stadiums are doing often better numbers than America.

The top guys are not necessarily even near America so there's going to be more and more big fights all over the world, successful big fights, which is great. For example, the HW division typially the biggest in Boxing, the most important fight in years there will be between a Russian and a Brit in London. It'll continue and I think it's only good for the sport.

What do you think of Calzaghe's comments on Roy's steroid allegations? I dont know the full story behind that steroid scandal, and Ive a feeling the presenter only brought it up, because Joe mentioned it in his autobiography.

I think if Roy wins(not likley)steroids will be the excuse followed by Calzaghes age.

I understand where your coming from and realize that the rest off the World is really producing top fighters in some cases the best in the world in their division , but they will still head Stateside not just to get respect but to have done it because your not really complete as a champion unless you do , something about Las Vegas the movie stars the atmosphere the world coverage , where boxing is concerned Las Vegas is an icon like Rolls Royce or Harley Davidson it has boxing charisma that no other place has or can take from it , it and Madison Square Garden has a roll call of champions like no other place on earth , I know the whole concept doesnt seem fair at times its just the way it is .

Yer it's definitely something to tick on your record, and it's nice to agree with you. It's difficult to sum up the whole boxing is biggest and best in America thing, in many ways it is and America do the whole big hyped event with stars thing better, but in many ways other countries are doing well here and bringing new things into it all. I watched all the undercards of the Hopkins Calzaghe fight and man, there was hardly anyone there, a rubbish atmosphere by the looks of it, and just not a good venue, naff intro's camera work, vybe in comparison with most others.

I struggle to see NY as a better venue for the Calzaghe Roy fight when Cardiff would have 50 thousand plus crammed into a world class top stadium. Different pro's and cons, but I just think it's in evitable the half myth of the america's best for boxing will fade and the rest of the world are and will continue to cater for and put on equally great shows in their own right.
