Williams and Clottey two boxers who were his size and he struggles,

Fair play the santos fight i believe that he would have won but it wasnt looking like a walk in the park.

His main weapons are his size and his work rate. Take away his size and then all he has is work rate.

Williams boxing technique vs Margarito's work rate i give it to Williams technique 70% of the time. Thats my own personal opinion.

Maybe you'd have more of an argument for people who weigh in fight night heavier such as Hatton coming in about 147.
thankyou! finally someone with common sense. sick of ones spouting off that mararito had a big size advantage over cotto. taller yes but size is in more dimensions than up and down. he was the same weight as cotto and reach more or less so i dont get this "bigger" argument. to me and I could be way off the mark here but mostly the advantage of being taller is usually a reach advantage which was not the case.

how was his size an advantage? i am not trying to be cheeky or anything I am not the most experinced fan and to me the most obvious help being bigger than your opponent is would be either a weight advantage or a reach advantage. there are probably more than that but thats why i ask.

I believe that he is a Jnr Middle Weight. However if he makes the weight he deserves to fight at that weight.

My main arguement is that he struggles when he fights people his own size.

He does deserve a few easy big money fights ie zab and oscar as he has had a hard career and has worked hard to get to the top he should enjoy it while he is there but he should lay down the gauntlet to Williams. As someone said earlier he has jumped above Williams (although i believe that Williams is the real No.1 at welter as he has beaten every welter he has been in the ring with) and as much as i would hate to see it he should fight zab cause he is big bucks.

If he had brains he would tell Williams and Clottey to get it on in a unification bout saying he would fight the winner and in the process producing a lineal ww champion. It would also eliminate the need for him to fight one of the most dangerous welters in the world.

              Thats brains

Well his height is an advantage, even tho he dont use it too well. Because u gotta punch up, which is more tireing and takes a bit of the sting off of ur shots. Plus he's just a generally imposing figure, i bet he was heavier on the nite, tho i havent seen the fight nite weights.

Yeah true punching up would take that bit more out of you. Seems I could have been wrong about the reachs as well. I looked it up on boxing rec there and it says margarito had a 73 - 67 reach advantage but I am nearly sure coverage of the fight had them at the same reach despite the height difference. If I am wrong about that then I take back what I said.

Thought of it all on my own. aint i a clever little tosser. lol

It is in my opinion the best route for Margarito.

He would fight zab for a big money day that he deserves then fight for three of the 4 titles something which i dont think floyd ever held at welter (i may be corrected) plus it would give him bragging rights over Floyd and put media pressure on Floyd for the big payday he wants

Bingo. Margs cleans up... IF and thats a Big If... he can beat williams.. and Cotto doesnt try and come in somewhere unless he goes after Berto
