same reason hamed , another wbo champ , couldn't unify all the belts even though he beat EVERY single wbc , wba , ibf title holder at 126 in his time.

mitchell was wba champ 3 months before he fought calzaghe. reid was wbc champ about a year before he fought joe as well.

the fights just couldn't be made when they were the champ.
I know what your trying to teach BRAVE HEART but ya cant teach pork can ya!?

I really don't think Jermain would do very well at all against Mikkel Kessler. I see Kessler winning a pretty easy decision there.

I know its a lot of what ifs but its all realistic.
Jeff Lacy is a very different boxer now after the demolition job Calzaghe did on him, damaged goods. Still quite impressive if JT knocks him out though, I cant see it myself mind.

No way on gods green Earth does JT UD Kessler.

I cant believe you'd compare JT's - (HBO goldenboy, hype job found out) career to Calzaghes.

Only some thing great fighters do!
Well, Taylor already had wins over five former world champs at the age of 28, and a draw with another, after only four title defenses, and he should have seven after he fights Lacy, so that in itself does not really set Joe apart...

But more would have to happen than beating Kessler for Taylor's career to be considered comparable to Calzaghe's. Joe losing to Kelly would help, but honestly Jermain needs a few convincing wins over quality opposition as well.

my reason for this thread was less about trying to make jermaine seem great but to show that with just a couple of wins a so called legend and a fighter most don't give a lot of respect to get real comparable. if jermaine fights till he's say 33 its quite possible that he could have better or even far better resume based on a name by name basis. to me joe has to fight more than just jones to say he's had a great career. to bad its so late in his career that he's finally deciding to fight big fights. I just don't understand people acting like calzaghe is the greatest fighter in this era. when asked to point out significant wins you get kessler, lacy, and hopkins. and im sure people are gonna talk about all his title defenses of what was basically a minor league belt. when did he finally unify his belt? cause I can recall that during hopkins run of defenses he sure had a lot of belts and a so called linear title.

i think Taylor would probably beat him

to me his style seems taylor made(see what i did there) for beating Calzaghe

Taylor doesn't seem like the type of guy who can come back after a loss, but we'll see..

Skills wise he's better than Calzaghe by a mile, but I'm not sure if he has enough heart left..only time will tell

Jermain already has a few convincing wins, he fought a very solid version of Hopkins and won both times, and Spinks.
