  • joe calzaghe vs jermaine taylor

I was just thinking if jermaine knocks out jeff lacy and then fights and scores a ud on kessler does that make his career better other than holding a crappy belt for all those years considering he beat a younger hopkins twice. or should he also have to beat manfredo. to add to that what if all that happens and calzaghe fights and loses to pavlik. I know its a lot of what ifs but its all realistic.

He would then have to succesully defend his belt 20 times but resume wise they would be on par.

He would have to go back in time and not get knocked the **** out and then outboxed by a limited fighter.

How can you say his resume would be the same!?? Thats crazy !
Before his resume could be classed as better than Calzaghes he would have to defeat eight former world champions and make 20+ world title defenses !
Only some thing great fighters do!

its not impossible that that limited fighter you speak of could beat or even knock out calzaghe.

another note... I read in an article explaining why calzaghe wasn't relevant when jones was campaiining at super middle weight that the belt calzaghe held for so long wasn't really thought of as a championship belt kinda like the ibo belt is now. so maybe those defense didn't mean as much as were lead to believe. kinda like someone defending a nabo belt forever

              Its highly unlikely.

That article was universally panned. Calzaghe was the best supermiddleweight in the world for years regardless of what alphabet belt he had.

I ment major wins not total wins against former champs and if he did defend his belt twenty times which he could never do,I am sure he would of fought some major world champions.Even at Taylors young age he already fought two future hall of famers in Winky and Hopkins,if he were to add Kesslers name to that you could say Taylors major wins vs Calzaghes would be similar.

He was a notch below Ottke in the independent rankings if I remember correctly.
