I picked Margarito to beat Cotto early last year, due to the styles involved. I always knew Cotto was better in every measurable way, but I also knew that Margarito would be too big, too strong and too crazy for Cotto.
Jake LaMotta was much the same as Marg; coming forward, throwing tons of punches until the opponent had nothing left.

Luckily, strength and toughness are top qualities in professional boxing and can be just as vital as skill and smarts.
Those are the reasons why anyone would struggle with Antonio, not just Cotto.

Kessler showed that he was totally unable to adapt and mix up his style when things started going south against Calzaghe. He looked like a schoolboy in the later rounds.
That alone is a huge factor that favors Cotto over Kessler.

Some will probably argue that Cotto didn't change much during the course of his last fight, but I can assure you that he did exactly what he had to do to win.
He just didn't have the endurance to pull it through.

Cotto has showed us different styles, Kessler has not.
Kessler has been totally outclassed, Cotto has not.
Cotto has a much more varied attack.

    For me this is an easy conclusion;

    Cotto> Kessler
I am sure I saw you lambasting someone for saying Cotto was a good boxer, but maybe they were exaggerating the case or something.

It seems boxing is one area we do not agree on, as you hate my favourite boxers style, and now this! Never mind.

Do you think if Calzaghe concentrated hard enough he could lay out his opponents using only his mind, thus not risking those fragile hands?

Actually it was the Andrade fight that really turned me on to Mikkel Kessler, that and his stunning good looks and awesome tattoo. Don't you find him attractive?

On the other hand it seems it is time for me to log off, as it appears the ******s have come out to play.

Now you really are talking ****. Kesslers jab is his best weapon and one of the best in the game.

              Seconded...

His right is the KO punch, but his jab is the winner.

                Mine are:

                Calzaghe
                Kessler
                Margarito
                Pacquiao

I was cheering like **** when Marg beat Cotto, i really didn't think he could, which made victory all the sweeter.
**** yes... his performance against Ponce just shocked me beyond belief. That was an absurdly good performance, even against a limited fighter, it was like going above and beyond what he had to do.

Fair enough, I guess your favorites have very little to do with nationalism.

By the way, in the general topic of discussion, one thing that might push Kessler ahead of Cotto in terms of how good a fighter he is is his chin... Cotto has had a lot of problems with his, while Kessler has shown a pretty damn good chin to my knowledge.

It might, its hard to know how good Kessler's chin is, before Calzaghe I'm not certain he'd ever been hurt in a fight before, against Mundine maybe, but everyone else I've seen he dominated. It does look a bit better than Cotto's anyway. Doesn't matter to me though, I think he's way better than Cotto, but i'm not asking you to agree.
