it wouldn't have been impressive at all given he was supposed to make mince meat of the unheard of Douglas. It would have been a 'get out of jail' win.

For 7 rounds Douglas was whooping Tyson, then out of nowhere Tyson landed one uppercut that had Douglas down for a 9 1/2 count.

He just didn't get any credit for Buster being down 14-15 sec. Nobody expects absolute perfection from refs, but this ref got paid over AND under the table.

He also lets Douglas land some homerun shots on the poorly trained and attended to Tyson on the break with no penalty. Tyson had no one in his corner, no team, no ref, no promoter, no family, no wife. Maybe a couple whores out in the crowd, that's it.

Tyson was doomed by mental illness to unravel soon enough, but it's apropo that he gets the exact same long count that robbed his fistic mentor and hero Dempsey of his rematch with Tunney.

Yeah but still Hurtado was a prohibitive underdog to Whitaker when that fight happened and few thought he'd drop Whitaker twice.

If Richard Steele was refereeing that fight Tyson would have gotten the knockout.

I sure won't disagree with that. King forgot to bring his own house referee.
