most overrated fighters in history

Many on this forum say Roy Jones, James Toney, Bernard Hopkins, etc are the greatest boxers. But, I looked at their records and they have many losses. Yet, on this thread I read Joe Calzaghe and Rocky Marciano are overrated, and they have no losses. I dont understand that. If Joe Calzaghe and Rocky Marciano were not as good as you say, dont you think they would have some losses ? I dont understand.Comment

You look at their resume and how was the division at the time they fought. Rocky Marciano division wasn’t the weakest division ever but was not close to Ali time. Calzaghe fought at SMW one of the weakest division and fought only Europeans fighters and fought a 43 year old man and got knocked down and barley escaped with a win and also him not fighting Pavlik but a past his prime RJJ. By your way of thinking Mayweather is the greatest boxer ever. Champion in 5 weight classes and undefeated. Mike Tyson is very overrated by the general public as a whole, but often underrated by "historians". It sort of evens out.
Aaron Pryor is extremely overrated on message boards, particularly by the Legendary Nights Era of Boxing Fans.
Jack Dempsey is pretty overrated as well.Comment
