Right. Kessler needs to fight an american name. Maybe Vargas could give him some exposure as I'm sure that the americans in general doesn't exactly stand in line.I doubt they are aware of most of them.
Some of them were solid fighters and Kessler does deserve a bit more credit for defeating them, but he likely won't get it until he defeats a highly regarded American opponent.
Joe had to do it, even Hopkins who had to defeat Trinidad to become a known fighter.
Taylor is one, Pavlik is another, so is Dawson. Miranda was a missed opportunity,Wright won't fight him.
I'm afraid he wouldn't get much credit for beating Bute or Froch, although they are both capable fighters.Comment

Personally speaking I think that at the time, it was a great victory for Bhop, but I think his most impressive win is going to be Antonio Tarver. Not saying that Tarver is a better fighter then TRinidad, but hes a guy who came off beating RJJR 2 times, and Glen Johnson...Hopkins moved up 15 lb.s to fight Tarver and ABSOLUTELY DOMINATED him in his own Weight Class. Where as TRinidad was the one moving up in weight to take on a guy who had held that thrown for years prior.
I think Trinidad's mistake was that by moving up in weight, he was able to do things that normally he couldnt due to the fact that he was trying to make 147 or 154. So Maybe he tanked it a bit in training, IMO of course. But the man was a man beats @ 147 and will be regarded as one of the best the WW division has ever seen......Comment

Taylor has actually fought and beat elite fighters so yes.
It's way too early to say whether Bute and Froch are going to be a top level guy. At least Bute is fighting someone with a pulse in his next fight.
Miranda, Lacy, and Green....you're reaching.
You guys need to get off this American bull****. He needs to fight an elite level fighter regardless of nationality. Unfortunately, his division is crap, and all of these guys (Pavlik, Abraham, Dawson, Tarver, and Johnson) are fighting in other weight classes.Comment

And if we're using this logic then here are some great wins.....That's right but keep in mind that Kessler didn't spar and fought the fight with a broken right hand. He had it surgically repaired afterwards.
I don't want to sound rude guys but I'm pretty sure that you don't know his record. Here's an updated on his latest fights:
Manny Siaca KO 8 (WBA champion)
Anthony Mundine UD12 in OZ (future titleholder)
Eric Lucas KO10 (Former champion)
Markus Beyer KO3 (WBC champion, unification fight)
Librado Andrade UD12 (Mandatory. The fight was a shut-out. Andrade was undefeated)
Joe Calzaghe LD12 (All-time-great)
Dimitri Sartison KO12 (Won WBA title against undefeated opponent)
As you can see you'll be hard pressed to find a soft touch in there. Kessler has been fighting for his life ever since he became champion.
Pac over Diaz (Diaz WBC Champ)
Pavlik over Lockett (Lockett only one loss and number one contender)
Floyd over Baldo (Baldo WBC Champ)
Cotto over Mausa (Mausa future WBA Champ)
you get the point....Comment

Totally agree with you on this, its not that he needs to fight a American fighter, he could easily get a good marketbale fight in Las Vegas, on American turf and be regarded by all fans and panels, but this is simply going to involve moving up to 175. Bar none. I think that a Taylor fight isn't going to soo much put his name on the map. Yes it will do good for him, but the man has only one move and thats to move up if he wants to truly become a star in this sport. And I think he would get a lot of big names willing to fight him if he does move up in weight. I think that a fight with Dawson, and or Johnson would be a true war. and a great fight. This would get his name seriously out there and win lose or draw, if he stayed in there and fought a solid fight, he would be given markee names in every one of his next fights hands down!!Comment

Thats y under the circumstances I feel Tarver was his biggest win, moving up 15 lbs and not knowing what to expect from Hopkins. He was taking on the best fighter in the division who had probably the best wins in the sport the last 2 years prior to there fight....
Whos his biggest win in your opinion?!?!Comment

I know you're not asking me but Tito is his biggest win. Not his best opponent, but that win did more for Bhop's career than any other.Thats y under the circumstances I feel Tarver was his biggest win, moving up 15 lbs and not knowing what to expect from Hopkins. Personally, I feel Winky is the best fighter he has ever faced and beat.Comment
