It can be argued Tarver was his best win.

No. The day Kessler fights someone with a pulse and beats them is the day I start believing.

I think Kessler is a very good fighter. With that said you're right. He hasn't beaten a lot of good fighters, and he's back to fighting mandatories for some useless belt. It makes him look weak even though I don't think he is.

Kessler is a good fighter but not a proven fighter.

I would say it's more about Trinidad's inactivity after the Hopkins fight than his lack of size for the division. He was a capable middleweight and it's doubtful that he would've lost to anyone in that division at the time except Hopkins (Joppy was number 2).

That's right but keep in mind that Kessler didn't spar and fought the fight with a broken right hand. He had it surgically repaired afterwards.

I don't want to sound rude guys but I'm pretty sure that you don't know his record. Here's an updated on his latest fights:

Manny Siaca KO 8 (WBA champion)
Anthony Mundine UD12 in OZ (future titleholder)
              Eric Lucas KO10 (Former champion)
Markus Beyer KO3 (WBC champion, unification fight)
Librado Andrade UD12 (Mandatory. The fight was a shut-out. Andrade was undefeated)
              Joe Calzaghe LD12 (All-time-great)
Dimitri Sartison KO12 (Won WBA title against undefeated opponent)

As you can see you'll be hard pressed to find a soft touch in there. Kessler has been fighting for his life ever since he became champion.

I doubt they are aware of most of them.

Some of them were solid fighters and Kessler does deserve a bit more credit for defeating them, but he likely won't get it until he defeats a highly regarded American opponent.

Joe had to do it, even Hopkins who had to defeat Trinidad to become a known fighter.

Taylor is one, Pavlik is another, so is Dawson. Miranda was a missed opportunity,Wright won't fight him.

I'm afraid he wouldn't get much credit for beating Bute or Froch, although they are both capable fighters.

I'm aware of all these guys. Some I'm only aware of because they've fought other guys on the list (Siaca vs Mundine) but I'm still aware of them. And with the exception of Mundine you're just digging up former champs and undefeated fighters because they have at one point they were. They're just names that would be discarded on a great resume.

                      Manny Siaca - no thanks
Mundine - tough fighter and legit top 5
                      Beyer - no thanks
Andrade - can take a punch, that's all
                      Cal - lost
Sartison - no thanks and who cares if he was undefeated. JJC Jr is undefeated.

Kessler is a good fighter, but in order for me to rank him above Bhop he has to step up his comp and step it up big time. His problem is his division is crap and the true competition lies in the weight class below and above his.
