Geezus Christ. The attempts to rewrite history are laughable and if you think 15 years from now people are gonna look back at the Eubank win as something big than you are dumb as ****. Don't you think if it was that big a deal it would've been hyped as such when it happened? Like when Hatton beat Tszyu? But everyone knew Eubank was finished that's why no one gave two ****s.

You can try to do the same with old man Hopkins but 15 years from now, that's gonna look like Ali beating up on 40-something year old Archie Moore. Lucky for Ali, he beat ATG's in his prime like Foreman, Frazier, etc. Can you imagine if he had to hype up the Moore win? That's what you guys sound like.
What you say is true but Calzaghe was 25 years old, what the Eubank fight did was test Calzaghe and show that he can compete at a higher level. It's like a coming out fight for Calzaghe to prove that he could fight at a high level because while Eubank was no longer prime he would still provide a stern test to most Super-Middleweights out there.

eubank had already lost 2 fights in the previous 24 months
      he was clearly heading downhill

      even calzaghe's camp new that...
do you honestly think the would have put an inexperienced joe in with a prime eubank?
i'm not saying joe isn't the better fighter but it's the fact that people have to refer to wins like this and the lacy fight that show how mediocre joe's record really is

Perhaps Eubank was not quite as good as Hopkins, but the difference is hardly night and day. Had they fought it would have been a tough, close, competitive fight, or are you suggesting that Hopkins is clearly massive levels better than Eubank? I might even suggest that the Eubank that fought Calzaghe would probably have beaten the MW Hopkins that fought Taylor, because he retained fairly decent stamina, probably as good as Jermain Taylor's.

So? Eubank was far bigger than Hops and showed it by moving to cruiser next. So maybe head to head he wins but pound for pound he was LEAGUES behind.

Hopkins is an all-time great and future Hall of Famer. Chris Eubank was a good fighter in his prime.

But here you go again with your political "yeah he was better than him but not that much better."

Come on, man. The Taylor win over Hops was heavily hyped for a reason--even though it wasn't much of a win (or one at all). The Calzaghe CLEAR victory over Eubank was IGNORED for a reason--mainly because everyone knew Eubank was done and, besides, when did Eubank become great?

Well when you have to go to Dubai and to Egypt before your megafight with Joe... it does give you more reason to question where you are in your career.

Eubank became great the day he got a US passport.

Yeah because the Hall of Fame is biased against Brits too.

I reckon it is, actually. A lot of mediocre Fat Yanks seem to get in, seriously.

If The Bank was a Yank (A Yank Bank) then I truly believe he'd be a lot higher regarded.

Oh, I'm not suggesting that Joe Blow fought a prime Bank btw.

Will Brits stop thinking everyone is against their fighters. If a trend continues then it must honestly be true. British fighters for the most part have been overrated and usually do get exposed. The world doesnt hate your fighters just to hate them.
