I don't think you people get it. Cotto got beat BAD! Blood all over his face a broken nose and had to go to the Hospital. He didn't just get K.O'd he lost knowing that his power didn't have any affect on Margarito. That can seriously **** YOU UP Mentally. MAB didn't want any part of Pac in the 2nd fight...The same might happen to Cotto.Comment

While at times I am ****y around my friends and tend to brag about different issues...in the end I think I'm an objective person when coming to terms on various matters.I see alot of fans (mostly Puerto Ricans) saying that Cotto will be back "better than ever".
REALLY?
When's the last time a fighter came back undiminished from that type of physical and mental beating? Name 'em.
I have seen many fighters - including some recently - who were on an upward arc, but had their careers derailed by exactly that type of beating... or a similar thrashing.
Examples:
Hamed post Barrera
Lacy post Calzaghe
Hatton post Mayweather
Taylor post Chavez
Vargas post Trinidad
I'm hopeful that Miguel will be back and will be as good or better. but, as a betting man, the odds are against it.
Dios Dominicano, while you have a very valid point regarding Cotto's return to probably being inferior from now on, I have to acknowledge something. Keep in mind that this is being treated objectively and I could be wrong. I'm just offering my point of view.
Hamed post Barrera- he disappeared after his first and only loss. I'm not defending Hamed, he was probably ashamed after Barrera schooled him, and who wouldn't after such a skyrocketing undefeated winning streak. However, even though we can say that Barrera "broke" Hamed and say that he made Hamed never want to get in the ring again, we will never know how much he diminshed as a fighter since he never fought again. We can use his act of never returning as a barometer to measure his broken spirit, but I wonder how much he lost of himself after the fight. He never fought again.
Lacy post Calzaghe- Lacy I think was overhyped and underprepared. He had a good KO percentage and an undefeated record, but he was still too green to take on Calzaghe (they probably underestimated him greatly due to him being a European fighter...big mistake). I think Lacy was fairly good, nowhere near the praise he had gotten, but since fighting Calzaghe, his last 2 fights and his performances have been very weak and would suggest he'll never be that special fighter he was cracked up to be. So I partially agree with you here. If he fights J. Taylor, we'll see without a doubt if he's lost it indefinitely.
Hatton post Mayweather- Off-topic: As much as I enjoyed seeing Mayweather win, I still felt sorry for the way Hatton lost. On topic: it would be unfair to judge Hatton as "damaged" or "ruined" or "not the same" after just ONE fight since Mayweather. Let's see a couple more and then we'll talk.
Taylor post Chavez- I'll give you this one.
Vargas post Trinidad- and I'll give you this one. Vargas fought his ass off in that fight and it was good, too. But Vargas always looked out of shape and he would ALWAYS get clipped in EXACTLY the same way BY THE SAME LEFT HOOK by Trinidad, by De la Hoya and by Mosley, and then lost to Mayorga in his farewell fight.
So, about Cotto? Only time will tell. Hell, we shouldn't even judge fighters as "not the same" until AFTER their careers are over or after we've seen a long list of fights AFTER their big losses to safely determine whether or not they're a shell of their former self. It's pointless in doing so. Vargas and Taylor...they're gone now. We can say with great assurance that they weren't the same...Hatton and Lacy? Unsure about Hatton but but Lacy's career isn't looking too good. He's had terrible conditioning and seems to only start strong and then nothing.
This is coming from a puertorrican. I've watched the Cotto/Margarito fight twice, I think it was a great fight, action-packed, and I look forward to both of their next fights. I wish them the best!

Wow, okay, how about the Casamayor fight?
Still no responses for Barrera and his two beatdown losses to Jones and another one to Pacman
Vasquez, Rafael Marquez, Mormeck, Benn, Kostya, ToneyComment

Zoo's night vs Cool Vince? That was - again - a sudden thing. Not a prolonged beating.
This is boxing. Anybody can 'get caught'. That is different than eating 250 power shots and having your face broken up. And having your will broken.
For example, was Diego's will broken?Comment

Which casamayor fight?
Toney has never been beaten down. Ever, Even in his bad loss to Jones...if you saw that fight. That was much more like mayweather-Corrales where Jones just outclassed him.
KT took a beating...from Hatton. How was his comeback?
Was Mormeck ever an elite fighter? Ever?
Again: JJ never "beat down" barrera. And the video proves it. The Pac 1 fight was much more of "a beatdown".Comment
