I attribute a part of the tide turning to the broken nose. And a part to Miguel not ever having to deal with that level of adversity, and not knowing how to deal with it.

Erik Morales and Israel Vazquez have their noses broken in every fight. They can deal with the pain and breathing problems. The first time Miguel was brought out to deep water, he drowned.

By contrast, if Antonio margarito had the broken nose and busted up face, he would have dealt with it. Somehow, i feel that.

Question: was Miguel's face that much (or any) worse than Malignaggi's face? Paulie had to get all types of maxillofacial surgery. He hung in.

You do have a point there. I'm one of the guys saying he will be back and even stronger. I want to believe that because I'm a Cotto fan but as a boxing fan and a student of the game I have my reasons for thinking this way. Cotto has been hurt several times before. Other fighters in that position would never have found a way to dig there way out of the trenches. He did. He did several times.....If you take a closer look at the fight you will notice how his nose became a big problem for him. I'm telling you, when your oxygen intake becomes a problem your whole fight plan becomes a problem. Your skill, your will, your everything just is not there. I could see it happening and knew it was going to be a problem down the stretch. Before his nose got busted up he was dominating the fight. Cotto is sitting at home right now and he knows this. Believe me, he is looking forward to fighting him again. I do think he agrees with me about having a fight between though. He does need that. People are so quick to give up on fighters. I'm not nor is he. Believe me Cotto will be back!

Barrera got totally MURDALIZED by Pac the first time around and still had a decent career afterwards.

He had a wonderful fight in beating Morales in their 3rd meeting, as well as wins over Ayala, Juarez (2X), Peden, Fana, lost a close one to Marquez and then lost a decision to Pac a second time.

            Nothing to be ashamed of.

He re-invented himself, turned into more of a boxer than a brawler.

                  Meldrick taylor... not Jermain Taylor.

Jermain didn't take a beating. He took less than a round of punishment.

How about Corrales? He took a similar beating from Mayweather didn't he?

That is when I became a Malignaggi fan. It was when he fought Cotto. He has alot of heart and I just wish he'd pack a stronger punch.
