I hate to break thi stoo you and you can laugh only showing you don't know **** about the sport but Whitaker was one of the best welters ever. He was one of the best defensive fighters I have ever seen and his speed is right up there with the greats. Don't discredit Whitaker......that guy was a mongoose.
Julio Cesar Chavez vs Sugar Ray Robinson

He fought Jake LaMotta 6 times, losing once, beating LaMotta 5 times, beating him brutally in the 6th fight in what has become known as the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre and LaMotta was a middleweight. Robinson was a welterweight who was unbeaten at that weight. In fact he was 128-1-2 before suffering his second loss at middleweight again against Randy Turpin, a loss he avenge a couple of months later, he was also past his prime at this point.I will go first, since my name was mentioned. I have never seen much of Ray Robinson except the tapes I have. Now, he fought many great fighters and lost a lot of matches. He fought rocky Graziano 6 times, knocking him out in his final fight with him.
I think JCC is a better fighter and more skilled fighter than Graziano and could give Robinson a great fight at 140. Robinson also fought Kid Gavilan if I'm not mistaken, who was a great Cuban fighter and lost to Robinson in a very close fight, some say Gavilan won. Remember, Robinson lost 19 times and he lost in his prime. A lot of those came late but he wasn't the perfect fighter that many made him out to be.
I honestly don't know who would win but I think that Chavez would give him all he could handle at 140 and have a very good chance to win because of his iron chin and great body work.
And according to reports, Robinson beat Gavilan pretty clearly.Comment

Yes and Lamotta wasn't half the boxer that Chavez was, no way.He fought Jake LaMotta 6 times, losing once, beating LaMotta 5 times, beating him brutally in the 6th fight in what has become known as the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre and LaMotta was a middleweight. The fight with Gavilan was very close and I have heard very respectable people say he lost that fight including Bert Sugar.
Like I said, I don't really know who would win but saying Chavez had zero chance is ridiculous. Chavez was a beast in his prime who was a surgeon with his inside punching. Not to mention he had one of the greatest chins of all time. Chavez is not easy for no one.Comment

You wouldn't know cause you weren't a boxing fan then as i wasn't. But i have videos of Chavez and the commentators commentating his match said that guys ranking. I'll look for the fight and post it.
And don't go an look at his record if you weren't in that time watching boixng.
And don't look for Boxrec to tell you something.
I was at ringside watching Olivares and Zarate fight long before Chavez was even a pro. Believe that.Comment

LaMotta was a very good pressure fighter, much bigger than Chavez and more powerful, maybe not as quick because he's a middleweight and Chavez was at best a junior welterweight.Yes and Lamotta wasn't half the boxer that Chavez was, no way.

Speed, size, power and ring smarts all go to Robinson, I just can't see how Chavez could win.Comment
