dude if Calzaghe is number # 2 P4P and a 43 years old grandpa HOP goes 12 rounds making little joey do EXACTLY what he wants him to do and hop lost his belts by a SD. I think its some what understandable. If you don't agree then Joe needs to be moved down as well.....

someone asked about Jones. I don't think he belongs in the P4P list until November 19th.

Please, in his prime Hopkins would have snatched Abraham's paper belt in five rounds or less.

Abraham isn't even the best guy in his division right now.
Whilst the p4p list does indeed consider achievements as a factor, it's not the only one dude, far from it. It's an assessment of the best boxers of today in all weight divisions, so saying Hopkins woulda beaten so and so back then isn't that relevant.

Abraham hasn't defended his title in America, how the **** is that relevant in p4p rankings of boxers either, ridiculous statement.

Hops was at number 4 before he fought Calzaghe...you can't just dump a number 4 out of the top ten just because of one close loss. He defeated Tarver (who was in top ten during that time) and Winky (who was top 3 at that time). People have bad memories...........then if they don't know they blame DLH who has no bearing in the opinions of the RING magazine. (Even if he's the owner)
Good point - I agree folk do forget about his win over Tarver, it wasn't that long ago, then suddenly he's shot. Hopkins would go up or down 2 spots I'd have said. I'd have Hops #6/7 now, and 2 lower for losing a decision to Pavlik, perhaps 3 for a KO.

Again I think Cotto was overrated p4p by Ring, plummeting 4 places kinda backs that up, and I also think Pavlik's the same. A loss on his undefeated record too would ruin the shine and he'd be #10 or less for me if he lost to Nard. I know loads would've demoted Calzaghe from say 5th to 9th had he lost to Nard, so it's not that different, in-fact more conservative than that.

To me Hopkins is DONE... just like RJJ, Trinidad, DLH, Winky, and other old school guys that put on fights to milk their name for some more money...

we need the new fresh blood to step in... as was the case with Cotto vs. Margarito, perhaps Pavlik vs. Abraham ... guys now in their prime that have more to fight for than just money.
What you're doing is singling out one guy, one guy who two fights ago beat Winky Wright, which is much better than anything Abraham has done. Hopkins' effort against Calzaghe was much better than beating Edison Miranda at a catchweight.

If Abraham can get a big win, like against Winky or Pavlik, then yeah why not. But until then, a 5 loss guy like Margarito has done more than Abraham.

I'm glad you resorted to namecalling, it shows that:

About defending in America, in Europe its a known fact that you can pick anyone in the bottom half of the top 15 and make a defense against them. Look at Sven Ottke, Henry Maske or Zsolt Erdei. Undefeated guys with no discernible achievements between them. Should they have been P4P guys as well?

By the way, you're a gay person.

True if you lose to a bum. But if you have a close decision with a p4p higher than you, you don't get bumped too low. P4P list is also about competition, besides skills. (Ex. Marquez)

BTW: Hopkins dropped down to number 5, then Mayweather retired.

By bum, what do you mean?

Like if a guy is a pound for pound guy and he loses to a lesser hyped, but solidly qualified contender, with maybe a loss or two, is that an example of losing to a bum? Because last time I checked pound for pound guys don't fight bums.

I think ranking B-Hop is harder due to his inactivity. There's no doubting he shouldn't be on the list. But, he seems to fight about once a year now and it's hard to rank him in the same spot all year round when younger more active fighters are fighting 3 times a year, which in my opinion makes them deserve the spot more, so that's why i feel B-Hop should be moved down.

why is it such a big deal that Hopkins is at #4

Rafa Marquez has lost 2 in a row and he's still in the mix.
