Concepcion's footwork and jab ain't as good here but he's still an impressive prospect. You can see the difference Roach's work made in his last fight.
Elizondo had me in stiches.

Was that Arum in Burnabe Concepcion's corner? At least he's not from ALA so we know he's not going to turn out a dud.

****! I just made a lengthy post about Concepcion in another thread. Oh well, here is what I said:
When I look at a prospect the first thing I look for, especially at lighter weights, is how well they move in the ring and how well they position themselves. Power and speed are nice to have, but if a boxer finds himself exposed after launching an attack, or if he struggles to take away his opponents offense with his own movement/ positioning, its a fairly safe bet that this is a fighter who is going to get tagged and is thus beatable.
I was tremendously impressed with Concepcion for exactly this reason. He exhibits a very rare ability to seemlessly integrate defensive movement with attack, seeming to slip his opponents punches and throw one of his own all in one movement. He also seems to have the ability to stay away from a lot of what his opponent does.
Now, the problem for a boxer with this sort of fluid style is that he tends to rely on it. He's naturally going to be off balance a lot of the time and had better have a heap of talent and be an excellent decision maker if its going to work for him at the highest level, either that or have an excellent chin! We won't know if Concepcion has either until we see him in with some better opposition. I must admit I'l always have my doubts about someone nicknamed "The Real Deal" before he's done anything of note. I mean who are they trying to convince, us or themselves? For now its safe to say, I think that at the very least, Concepcion is going to be an excellent boxer to watch.
How his career will play out in the long run, I have no idea. It might be that he'll succumb to the "curse of the gifted" and that a fighter like Andre Dirrell might go further with a more orthodox style complimented by his excellent speed. Sometimes too much talent is a negative and limitations can turn you into a better fighter, but in Concepcion's favour is that a lot of his talent seems to lie in out and out boxing ability, in that he moves well as well as having the athletic gifts of speed and power. I am looking forward to watching him, as I am with Dirrell and Danny Jacobs too.Comment
