No he didn't. If he had then he wouldnt have gotten up from taking a knee twice. He was looking for energy any way he could.
Did Miguel Cotto quit??

I have said a lot of ****** **** about Margarito in the past, but that was when I was ignorant and knew nothing about him. Now I actually think this man has to chance to beat Mayeather. He has even my respect and will never lose it no matter what. He is a warrior and has come from the bottom and rise to the top, a great Cinderella story.Comment

Unfortunately now Floyd has retired we will never know.
And it was a tragedy for true fans that Floyd didn't take care of unfinished business at 147 by fighting both Margerito and Cotto.
As for Cotto quitting....he basically had nothing left and was wise enough to accept defeat to fight another day rather than risk any serious damage.
That is actually an intelligent thing to do.Comment

Sure he had nothing left to give. But it's still quitting technically. He fought his heart out. He is no coward and his chin is tremendous.Comment

I didn't mention Margarito, but Flawless made this thread to try to convince everybody that Cotto is a quitter. That's just hateful and low class on his part - Cotto deserves better than that, he did the best he could.
Why can't he be a good sport and give both fighters credit for giving us one of the most entertaining fights of the year? And let's not forget, Flawless favorite fighter Floyd was too afraid to fight either Cotto and Margarito.Comment

You know what Floyd's achievements represent.
And it burns you up.
Do it hurt?
Tell me, do it hurt?Comment

Please Cotto fought a fight great fight but he couldn’t maintain it due his weak stamina and due to Margarito relentlessness. It was a ****ing great fight and well done to both of them
In the end I thought Cotto quitted and so do many other posters.Comment

...a little history on boxing, dogfighting, and chickenfighting...now I know dogfighting and chickenfighting are ilegal BUT the 3 of these sports all had the same rules at one time, the base of which is "scratch and turn", which is a rule that shows a "willingness to continue fighting"...anyone remember reading those about fights that lasted 70 rounds?...well, actually is wasn't "literally" 70 rounds, but 70 "scratches"...basically what "scratch and turn" is is when you have a dog, chicken, or man in a fight, he is watched by a referee and when he makes a "turn" (meaning he "turns" away from his opponent as if to get away) the ref yells "turn on *whoever*" (specific dog, chicken or man)...at this point, they are broken up, returned to their corners, allowed time to think about continuing (LOLOL...not time to rest like most "ignorant" fight fans think) for 30 secs and released to continue the fight...the "in turn" part means "scratching alternates" between the "contestents"...so, if opponent A turns first, he starts off the "scratching", but A & B alternate scratching...it's been a long time since I have been at a "scratch and turn" contest, but "turns" eventually become the reason the opponents are "separated", brought to their corner, given 30 secs to "think about continuing to fight", and then allowed to continue, aka "scratching"...people that are very serious about maintaining good solid "fighting aninmals" (meaning game dogs and game chickens) are very aware of "scratches" because when a "contestent" starts slowing down on "scratches", it means he's loosing interest in the "fight"...which is the whole idea with "scratch and turn" giving the contestent pleanty of opportunities to "quit"...when PBF ducked into the ropes vs Hatton, that was a picture perfect example of a "turn"...how does a "scratch and turn" contest end, well when one of the opponents is is counted out, meaning you realese a dog, for example and he doesn't complete his "scratch"...which means you realease him on his turn to "scratch" and he either "stands the line" and is counted out (roughley equivelent to Kostya sitting on his stool) or a dogs make it 1/4, or 1/2 or 3/4 or even all the way to his opponent and doesn't complete his "scratch" meaning continuing the fight by "mouthing" in dogs or whatever a chicken does in ****fighting and what I'd imagine in boxing a man throwing punches...if someone is game enough, you will know because they will fight "the handler", or in boxing the "ref" to be allowed to continue "fighting"...in dogs, the worst thing is to release a dog that has been completely dominating a fight, and it stands there looking everywhere, except at the other dog in the other corner...like Kostya and Roger Mayweather vs Chavez...boxing has moved away from "scratch and turn" but a fighter still needs to get off his stool OR show he wants to continue...the bottom line is Cotto didn't want to continue...I know this is a long post, but it's interesting to know that dogfighting, chickenfighting and boxing all had the same rules at one time...
