It went exactly how I was worried it would go. Cotto winning early and landing most of the big clean shots, but not being able to hurt Margarito. Then Margarito breaking him down and stopping him late after Cotto broke down from the pressure. I wanted Cotto to win, but Margarito was just the better man. Hell of a fight.
Post Fight Analysis: Margarito vs Cotto

I agree with every word of this.I think Margarito really mind ****s people. He is so incredibly easy to hit upstairs that people just get ****** into beating on his face trying to knock him out. I honestly can't remember one fighter that put forth a good body attack against Margo. I fully expected Cotto to do it. I have no idea why he didn't other than what I just mentioned. Margo is so easy to hit upstairs people take it.
If Cotto had expended all the energy on a body attack, I believe we would be singing a different tune right now.
Good job to Margarito for getting the win, but he did not win that fight, Cotto lost it. There was no Margarito breaking Cotto down, or Cotto getting punished.
The whole fight was Cotto outclassing Margarito. Cotto lost that fight. It is 100% his fault. He failed to implement that game plan that was needed to win.
Hopefully Cotto learns a valuable lesson from this fight. It was a learning experience because he didn't take that much punishment, but he learned a valuable lesson about conserving energy, and choosing which punches you need to throw.Comment

I can't believe these so called analysis that Cotto wasn't being hurt by Margarito's body shots, unbelievable. I guess Margarito had no say so as to who was going to dictate the pace of this fight. Cotto had no choice but to try to match Margarito's workrate to get him off. Cotto will not beat Margarito in a rematch because although he can try to improve on his cardio, he won't be able to stop Margarito from walking through him and taking what he wants. This fight broke down Cotto physically, as well as mentally.Comment

You seem to be looking for a reason why Cotto did everything right and still lost. That is simply not the case. Cotto made mistakes. Cotto lost because of his mistakes. Deal with it. I know you are desperately trying to convince yourself that there is nothing Cotto could have done to beat Margarito, but that is not true.Your just creating more excuse Bayless? Cotto is a low blow addict. Why didn't he retaliate? Because he was scared he was wincing in the second, those shots were hurting him he was shifting his blocking and circling away from his left hook. Towards what most would say is Margarito's harder punch in the straight right. He was going away from his power punch, bouncing away from his best punch to avoid a body shot it is wide open man. Why didn't he move away from Margarito's right instead which would put him in better location to use his signature left hook?
Margarito went away from body punches for a while because of Bayless as well as because Cotto protecting his body better. Give credit where credit is due. Step back and realize all you seem to be looking for is a reason why Cotto lost(what he or a ref didn't do), not what Margarito did and continued to do.
Margarito did his job, Cotto could not because Margarito executed the exact plan he had formed before entering the ring. Break down the body early, be relentless throw lots of punches and come on late to start busting him up and finishing him off. It was pretty obvious who would win the fight by the sixth, not the boxing match but the fight. Cotto was a great boxer put on an amazing performance but he got his ass kicked.
This fight was very winnable for Cotto. I know you love Margarito and feel like me saying Cotto made mistakes somehow takes away from the fact that Margarito came out with the win, but it doesn't. It simply means Cotto made mistakes that lost him the fight.
Deal with it.Comment
