I agree with most of your points but I don't agree we'd be done. Who know's maybe because of Pac's success, it will motivate the future generation of "Pac Men."They had pancho villa guillerdo{sp), Flash elorde, and Pacman. But a great filipino fighter only comes around once in a blue moon probably will not see a top guy from the PI for another 15-20 years.
Look this is not to bash the filipino boxers
but Mexico has so many champions and world class guys, so does puerto rico.
But the filipinos cannot seem to get any other decent prospects to that level. They must lack some sorta top level training or maybe they do not have what it takes the in ring smarts like penalosa and pacman to follow a game plan and look for openings.
I notice many of them just throw punches with textbook style they do not look for openings or time their shots they just throw punches at the gloves and body to see if one lands while backing away after throwing them.
Rodel mayol
Randy Suico
boom boom bautista
Aj Banal
And countless others.
Next to Fall is that kid Ironman Bernabe Concepcion tongiht maybe?
In Pac's era, we've shown that with enough exposure, we're capable of churning out world beaters although, I don't see the point of comparing us to the Mexico and Puerto Rico who both have stronger boxing traditions and richer boxing histories than us, but I feel we're not doing that bad considering we're really not that involved. It won't happen overnight but slowly but surely we're getting there.Comment

seriously, its pretty hard to get any real top world class Filipino boxers here in the US especially since most of the filipinos are pretty broke and can't really afford any trainning or even a flight to the US. You don't have world class trainers over there in the philiphines. U have many great Mexican fighters do to them just crossing the border on a constant basis. Theres probably more mexicans here in the US than there is in MEXICO!! You better expect them to have alot of great fighters for all there bad ones. Do you really think Mexico would have as much great boxers or exposure if they didn't live right next to US and cross illegally all the time? I sure don't think so.
You don't have any real world class trainers in the philiphines which makes it hard for them to exceed there potential. Mexican fighters gets lots of world class trainers from both mexico and US which even though most suck, you will have alot to choose from for them being so close to the US and one is sure to turn out good and reach there potential.
Both countries have great fighters, but Mexico will always have more great fighters to them being so closed and better trainers for them to reach there potential much faster.Comment

I was never buying into the whole "future of filipino boxing" gbp was trying to sell. GBP had what? 7-8 boxers all from the same gym. That would be like singularly stating the hopefuls from kronk gym are america's best and brightest. Guys like Donaire and Concepcion who are not ffom ala gym prove time and time again that there are world class fighters out there yet to get their big break. If this deal between Pac and Barerra's promotion companies go through expect to see a whole new generation of much more worthy contenders out of the philippinesComment
