It sounds like a spur of the moment thing where he was upset about something and just said he's retired, I doubt he is but it could actually be better for him if he does retire.

Its like if he never fought Joe and lets say he fought the 4 or 5 dudes
he fought after that i cant help but think he would of steamrolled through them all..
Its like what was said His mentally ****ed after that Joe defeat
A knockout at the hands of Joe would of been easier on him
the prolong beating has ****ed him up...

And if he retires well good for him, atleast he know's his time as a top fighter is behind him.
One word, Epifanio Mendoza. Chad Dawson derailed that guy in 4 rounds without much of a fight and even toyed with him at times. Lacy fought life and death with the man and was almost stopped and was out on his feet several times. Its a good decision IMO. The Calzaghe massacre was too much for him to handle becuase it was not only his first lost as a professional, but it was a career ending beating whee he was both mentally and physically damaged afterwards. He will always be remembered as a good fighter, but just that.

the referee should have stopped that fight,

maybe he would have a bit more if that beating was cut short

What? Isn't Jeff Lacy the greatest menace in boxing? The baddest man on the planet? P4P #1 forever?

I think it was becuase Calzaghe can't punch. If Calzaghe was a puncher and the referee was seeing that he was taking hard shots, then he would have stopped it IMO.

i think maybe he realizes he doesnt have much a of chance against taylor. cause if he comes in like he did again epi mendoza hes done. if he really is retired i hope he was smart with his money over career cause it doesnt look like he made much. but i dont think he really is retired.
