Jermain Taylor-Jeff Lacy Headed For November 15 on HBO

Former super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy was rocked several times and struggled to win a majority-decision over Epifanio Mendoza on Wednesday, but the win has now placed him on route to a showdown with former 2000 Olympic teammate Jermain Taylor. [details]

I thought that Calzaghe-Jones might be on November 15th.

I think that Taylor will win, possibly by late KO.

I think November 8th is the tentative date for Calzaghe-Jones.

Taylor will beat Lacy pretty easily from what I saw of Lacy against Mendoza.

Im still pretty excited about this fight to be honest.

Actually I dont even think Lacy is shot. The fighter I saw in the first 5 rounds against Mendoza was the fighter I knew from before the Calzaghe fight. The only problem I saw I hadnt seen before was Jeffs stamina, but he had thrown a lot of powershots at the beginning of the fight and probably overpaced a little. His left arm looked to be sharp again for sure. Now I understand some people saying hes become more vulnerable, but Mendoza is a big puncher and Lacy is hittable, so that just seems to be something that can happen in my eyes. Dont forget Lacys hard battles against Sheika or Vanderpool or how close his fight against Wiggins was on the scorecards.

Of course Taylor is the favorite because of his skills, speed and power and Lacy being so hittable and MAYBE more vulnerable than hes been in the past. But dont forget Lacys quick and hard 1-2 combos Mendoza took in the first rounds. If Lacy is able to land something like that against Taylor, we got a fight. Obviously you shouldnt pick anything different than Taylor by UD or stoppage, but IMO Lacy has not an usual, but a relatively big punchers chance.

This is a disgusting decision, Taylor should be ordered to fight Froch for the vacant title. Lacy is just a paper opponent and i think that the decision to continue with this fight after his showing against Mendoza is a disgrace.

yea i know mate but c'mon would you rather see him face Jeff Lacy or a live opponent like Froch, at least that fight would stand a chance of being entertaining.

Honestly? I want Taylor to take this very fight next. I want him to feel good at 168 with a dominant debut. I feel like if Taylor were to take on Carl Froch directly, barring Froch being totally outclassed anyway, that Jermain would be tentative and fragile. He really, really needs his confidence boosted with a dominant win before he can fully compete with the fighters on his own level again. I firmly believe that.
