Step 2. Discredit the current fighters in the division, try and make it seem like Manny is the toughest fight out there. Boxing public still not falling for it.

Step 3. Turn the potential opponent into the bad guy by saying I won't fight him unless he provokes me.

Step 4. Opponents team takes the bait. They use Roach as the fall guy being that he trained De La Hoya for his last big fight.

Step 5. Team De La Hoya gets mad, how dare Roach say Manny's can knock me out.

Step 6. As evident from your post, general public starts buying the hype.

    Step 7. fight gets made.

Step 8. Fans argue over who wins the fight.

Step 9. Manny gets ko'd in brutal fashion.

Step 10. Fans realize this was a mismatch and start to discredit De La Hoya for the win.

    So who's buying?
    agreed.

oscar calling out all those people along with manny is smokescreen as well.

i think they've decided to go with manny already and are just working at the details.

oscar naming a bunch of people will justify them picking manny by saying well oscar alled out everyone and this manny fight made the most sense......

Oscar ain't gonna ko pacman early...oscar will pretend that pacman is difficult and take pacman to deep waters make it look competitive then drown him in the late rounds with a devastating left hook that will drop pacman like a bag of bricks.
People will dislike Oscar similar to how the Mexicans lost respect for oscar when he foguth chavez sr 2 times and acted a fool celebrating as the mexican icon sit there on his stool bleeding.

But this time the Mexicanos will consider oscar the hero! for stopping the mexican assassin.

What about Arum saying that Roach needed to shut his mouth? He sounded sincere when he was talking about how people shouldnt say things like that until the fight is signed

This is just ridiculous. There are sooooo many great fights for Manny to make at 135. First and foremost, he's got unfinished business with JMM (who's won more total rounds than Pac-Man in their two fights, and who I believe was actually the winner in both of them). Then there's the Guzman-Campbell winner, the Diaz-Katsidis winner, Amir Kahn and even Ricky Hatton at 140. Those are all much better fights that this complete and utter mismatch.

If Manny leaves the division for this bull**** and doesn't return to give JMM the shot he rightfully deserves, that's just a disgrace.

What's even worse is that this fight will quickly degenerate into a sparring session, neither guy will go all out.
