Golden Boy Promotions vice president and international matchmaker Eric Gomez, a boyhood friend of Oscar De La Hoya, says that the statements of trainer Freddie Roach that De La Hoya was “slow, can’t pull the trigger and will be knocked out” by Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao have “provoked” the Golden Boy. It seems like both sides are already trying to hype up the fight by saying Manny will do this and that to Oscar even though he's like 4-5 inches taller than Manny. The Oscar camp wants everyone to believe that this Manny is the best boxer it seems in any weight class. This makes it seem like Oscar is fighting this "giant" to solidfy his career right before he retires. They seem to be baiting casual boxing fans who know enough of Manny and Oscar to buy and watch the fight. Heck, they got me.
P.S. I'm a really big Pacman fan, but this fight seems to be more about Oscar's legacy, Manny being Manny by fighting whomever Roach and Arum throws him into the ring with, and money. Manny should fight another LW and not jump all the way to 147 and Oscar should go for the winner of Cotto/Margarito.Comment

...Freddie Roach has gone to the darkside...he's selling out "his fighter" for money...there's no way in hell that Manny can handle Oscar and for Roach to keep pushing this he's more concerned with the money then what's best for his fighter...the size difference is just too much at this point...let's all say a prayer for Manny...

say what ever you want, justify it in in the press, but we all know odlh is a punk if he fights manny!Comment

...agreed...it's like Klitchko fighting RJJ...both are good fighters but the general rule in 1vs1 combat (boxing, MMA, street fighting, etc) is "a good big man will beat a good little man"...in the cases where a fighter jumps up a weight or 2 and beats different fighters it's "a better little man beating a lesser big man"...I have lost my respect for Roach and Oscar at this point...Manny's ****ed in my opinion...

He kept his power up to 135...so that means he has more power than De La Hoya?
