Erik Morales got it right in the 3rd Pacquiao fight. It just wasn't going to happen that night.

It seems to be more about age than courage.
People have already mentioned Morales, Tszyu and some others. Another guy was Wayne McCullough. In his prime he basically came forward and sometimes threw over 100 punches around. Against both Hamed and Morales he took their best shots and just kept coming. But recently he quit on his stool. That's just how it happens when you get old.
Sorry TheManchine but I'm gonna have to copy your style
Nigel Benn was another guy who quit in his last fight, even though he showed so much heart earlier in his career. Most people already know the McClellan fight, here is one that is less well known, where Benn was knocked down in round one, and was taking heavy shots in round 2. Here's what happened:

Fighters risk their lives inside the ring. If they feel they're at a point in a fight where they can't win, why the **** would they keep fightin? That Rahman **** was *****. These guys surrendered after they'd taken a lot of punishment and been pushed to the point of havin nothin left. And it was after they'd proven themselves as warriors in the past. It's wrong to label any of them cowards.Comment

Who are we to judge, mostly everyone on here doesnt box and wouldnt know what it feels like to get beat up like these boxers do..
most of these guys have never been in a fight where they were left bruised and bloody gotten up from knockdowns takiing punishment to the face and body and continued to fight.. but after taking a beating alot of guys lose confidence and lose hope and decide not to continue, can you blame them? could you take the punishment some of these guys take? didnt think so..
Cowards do not box, cowards sit behind there computers criticising people who do.Last edited by skyler; 07-28-2008, 05:59 AM.Comment
