Left Hook Tua is spot on here..

Morales was spent man he had nothing left.
He looked fresh in the face when he went down but you could see he
        knew it was over

And Kostya he was beaten upon round after round and looked
        tired and worn out

No it's not, I dislike a guy quitting over a cut or something like that like Rahman did against Toney but there's no reason for a very past prime fighter to get up and take a beating, I don't watch this sport to watch a slaughter.

the boxer or his corner , ref or doctor?

in judo or brazilian jiu-jitsu it's okay to quit before getting seriously hurt. mma also has the tap principle of those 2 combat sports.

why is it so wrong for a boxer to quit?

how many times have we seen a guy go out another round and he has that look of "i hope the ref stops this soon" or "when is my corner gonna throw in the towel"?
Of course, the boxer knows himself when to call it a day but most boxers aren't willing to quit because of their pride and warrior spirit.

It depends heavily on the circumstances though.

thank you!! as much as i respect a blood and guts warrior, if your the one in their fighting getting your brains beat out you have be able to rationalize whats at stake here.

If you've already given your best in there and you know in your heart you cant beat this man, whats the point of putting your life at stake.......and the normal life you could have had with your family.

A lot of people talk about blood and guts........fights to the death but get awfully quiet when someone like Gerald Mcclellans mentioned.

Now looking back i bet his family, him (if he could remember) and all responsible members of this board wish he would have pulled a Morales.

duran was a weird ass situation.

                he wasn't hurt.

i read somewhere where he didn't even say "no mas" , he actually said something like , "i'm not fighting this clown anymore" or something like that.

i also saw an interview where he just thought in the fight something like , "okay i didn't train hard enough for this fight. i won one , now he won one , i'll train harder for the 3rd fight."

                again.....duran was a weird situation.

Would it have been wrong for Oscar Diaz to have quit a round earlier than when the fight was stopped? If your answer is yes, then you are a heartless mother****er (IMO).

Pride and a true Warrior Spirit........respect that heavily

But thats why we have ringside officials.....refs......and their corners to gauge the fighter.
