i think Hopkins showed little signs against Winky in about the 6th round onwards that he was struggling with the pace there was a lot less coming back from him

i think he may have changed his strategy aswell ,IMO Hopkins can fight for 5/6 rounds only, he either starts fast and fades or he starts slow and finishes strongly and against Oscar & Taylor he started slow and the picked it up where as against Calz ,Winky he started fast and faded

Yep. At this age he can fight half of the fight. So he has to start well or end well. It's a shame, his skills have not gone but his stamina has else he would have beaten Taylor and Calzaghe IMO.

yeah i have never seen a 43 year old fighter retain as much ability as Hopkins has manged to do his stamina is the only noticeable thing that has deteriorated

The Mercado fights were good, the second one turned out to be a little one sided towards the end, the first one was a slug fest though, very good fight.

He totally dismantled Glen Johnson around that time as well, and the second Echols fight was crazy.

Archie Moore is the only one I can think of.

I think this is true, he doesn't have the stamina to go 12 hard rounds anymore.

I watched the first Echols fight a while ago. I might watch the re match later on. Yeah, he really dominated Johnson, and stopped him which at this point in time is an incredible acheivment considering everything Glen has done since!

defensive fighters always seem to have the bit more longevity than offensive fighters dont they

i know he probably wont but how long into his career do u think Floyd would/could last with his style of fighting ?

Hmm. I think Floyd needs to stay active to keep his reflexes top notch. If he stays gone for a year or two, then came back. I doubt he would be as good tbh.
