Jones is shot u idiot anyone with a brain can see that

he has been knocked out cold twice and his first KO loss was in how many years ago and he is now 40 years old

your hero is fighting an old man he deserves about as much credit as Marciano does for beating Joe Louis or Ali beating Archie Moore

Roy is as close to shot as you can get in a fighter as great as he was , age is not the prerequisite to being shot , some fighters are shot in thier 20s , bad knockouts send a fighter to shotsville faster than a speeding bullit .

Yes it is, but it's one of his own creation. He had several options open to him and this is the one he picked.

I like Calzaghe. I've been watching him for over ten years and have cheered him on every time since his first defence. But this is not a choice of opponent that I am pleased with and while I disagree with how some people view him/his career, the lack of praise he gets for his performance against Jones will be deserved.

I'm a Calzaghe fan, and I'm not going to be cheering from the rooftops when he beats Jones because it is far from a tough fight. I would have preferred to see him fight Pavlik, but Roy Jones is Roy Jones and you can understand why Joe would want to fight him. If he faces Pavlik afterwards then surely we can all be happy.

But if Calzaghe gets knocked out by Jones and/or Pavlik, I wonder how many would say he was shot.

Whilst Roy will be the biggest win on Joe's resume name-wise, I think several will be more significant. His wins over Lacy, Hopkins and Kessler are all more significant than a win over Roy who hasn't had a notable win in 5 years. Still, it would be a win over a true ring legend so it has to count for something.

If Roy knocks out Joe - this is a Roy who couldn't stop Prince, Hanshaw or a blown up Tito - then Joe is the one who is truly shot and should hang them up immediately.

I agree but usually fighters who become shot early are ones who've been in a lot of wars. That can hardly be said for Jones. Hes speed and footwork have diminished but your chin doesnt better or worsen.

Joe Calzaghe is fighting Roy Jones because he'll get the biggest payday of his life and he has a right to one of them IMO.

You got to do what needs to be done! Then beat Pavlik.

The Hopkins fight kinda turned out a bit bad for him, e.g "even a 43 yr old Hopkins gave him a close fight".

So will it be this after the Jones fight "Even a 39 yr old Jones who was way past prime and had been KO'd twice could take Calzaghe the distance".

                      I'll put up a poll
