Only 8 weight classes needed in Boxing.

I don't have a problem with the weight classes, yes it makes it harder to follow for the casual fan but I could care less about those douche bags.

If I thought it would help boxing then sure but I don't see that as one of the bigger problems in the sport.

My List of Boxing Ills

1. Better promoting - They need to quit having every big fight in Vegas or PPV, Promoters needs to look for sponsors and make a deal with Network Television channel to promote the sport to new viewers. Promoters should work together and quit trying to start wars with each others, any time something doesn't go Arums way he cries conspiracy which in turn burns bridges, the fans end up paying for it because we miss the potential great fights.

2.Alphabet soup - The Boxing writers should make the rankings through a voting system almost like they have in college football, Yahoo boxing has a ranking system like that but only for P4P fighters. The networks and media should stop calling anyone that isn't the number 1 ranked fighter the "Champ" sure every division has many "Title holders" but there can only be 1 true Champ.

I think weigh in's right before the fight would help also, along with eliminating weight classes AND belts.... **** all this "INTERIM" and "RING" belts along with the WBO & IBF...... There should be 2 belts at the most! and unifications would actually mean something. Nate campbell going down in history for having 3 belts at once seems kind of absurd!!!! Being he only beat 1 champ and he wasn't all that great. I hate how org's have mandatories against prospects yet don't rank other org's champions. So technically these other champs don't exist until the relinquish their belts....WTF. Or maybe if an outside company with no interests in boxing were to do a "UNIVERSAL RANKING SYSTEM" that all org's should follow, it would cut back on paying off org's for rankings.

the orgs would never eliminate all the weight classes. too much money in sanctioning 17 different weight class championships.

but it'll be easier to have them cut down to 8 divisions rather than disband their useless selves......

why couldn't oscar buy out wba , wbc , ibf and wbo and make it all one org with multiple regional divisions?(i.e. north american , western european , east asian , etc.)

do it oscar. buy out all the orgs like you did ring magazine.

you can make yourself king at 147 and 160 lbs. if you like......

I dont get it, He beat juan diaz, so hes not that great? Wasnt diaz undefeated at that point? Nate won, period, he deserves the credit he gets.

not saying that nate doesn't deserve having 3 belts. just pointing out how and why he might feel that way about nate.

fighting nate was a mistake at least on his managerial side. if he didn't lose to nate , juan would be fighting manny on november for mucho dinero......

They should eliminate all of them and make 2 new ones. kind of like NFL/AFL or NATIONAL/ AMERICAN , keep that **** competitive.... make being ranked #3 mean something.... I think more like starting @ 108 and having a division every 8 to 10 pounds up to 200# would be decent. these things would eliminate ABC champs like D.DIAZ.

Something like the BCS works better in boxing than it does in college football, mostly because very rarely does the BCS system even work, for the most part its bull****. But with boxing, there are so many variables that it would force champions to defend themselves against good opposition. Like lets say you have a fighter ranked 1.000. And is king at lightweight (140). Lets say he keeps his rating ONLY by fighting and defending against the top 3 in the division. If he loses, lets say hes busted down to say, .900 if that opponent was top 3. If he loses to some bum ranked 8th, he should be busted down to say, something like .750.

Lets say that fighter who is king at lightweight moves to 147, judging by who he defended against, and the numerical ratings of the fighters he fought, that would determine where he would enter in the new division, thus, if he defended against really good opposition 3 times, and stood at that 1.000 rating, then hed move into welterweight at like .900, thus it wouldnt bring down the rating of the champion he might be moving up to face.

This would force meaningful defenses, as well as, if you didint defend for a long time (im looking at you tszyu) untimely even if the governing body wont strip you, you lose some rating, and if you lose in the next match, your rating should go down like 200 points due to the length of inactivity.

Something like this i think would basically force fighters to fight good fights to maintain that 1.000 rating.

I'm not taking credit from him ....I'm just saying there have been GREAT FIGHTERS that didn't reign with 3 belts that Nate couldn't even be compared to. So when the history books are opened and people see NATE CAMPBELL # BELT CHAMPION @ LIGHT WEIGHT......that seems really absurd. The # for # champion hasn't even done that..... **** think about it...... How many GOAT's can you name that reigned with 3 belts in the same division.
