Only 8 weight classes needed in Boxing.

There should be only 8 weight classes in Boxing.

We have 17 weight divisions at the moment and it's not needed.

    How it should be:

    Heavyweight
    Light Heavyweight - 175 lbs.
    Middleweight - 160 lbs.
    Welterweight - 147 lbs.
    Lightweight - 135 lbs.
    Featherweight - 126 lbs.
    Bantamweight - 118 lbs.
    Flyweight - 112 lbs.

It'll make each division deeper and lessens boxers going up or down in weight to chase bogus ABC titles.

    Left Hook Tua has spoken.

Let it be written......so it shall be done.

I like most of the weight classes, and respectfully disagree. We sure don't need four world champions in each one though.

I definately agree we need less divisions. Super and Junior middleweight are pretty good examples as to why.

              Yes!
No need for cruiserweights or super and junior anything. If you're a middleweight you're a middleweight fighting at 160. Period. That's the way it should work.

We do have too many weight classes, the amount of titles in a given weight class needs to be sorted out too.

Less divisions mean less championship fights. And that means less televised fights. Please believe me when I tell you that.

one day we will find something that we finally agree on , Mr. Scott. :-)

we can't get rid of all the boxing orgs but less divisions mean more fighters fighting for those 3-4 belts.

lose your belt at 147? go to 154. can't get a belt at 160? go down to 154.

we don't need 85 champions in 17 weight classes.

can you think of 85 guys you would call championship worthy?
