If you wanna be real about it, Ray Leonard fought Marvin Hagler after 5 years of inactivity. Sure, he had one b.s. fight in between with Kevin Howard, a journeyman, Leonard got floored and looked bad... So he fought Bruce Finch in 1982, Howard in '84, then Hagler in '87........So I guess that's close...Other than that, I don't think its really been done.

[QUOTE=edgarg;3768572]He's become a little smoother lately, as he's getting experience, he was terrible at the beginning, as so many posters pointed out. I think also, that he was told to stop his maliciousness towards the Klitschko's and has indeed tempered his grudging comments until today....Lo and Behold, one might think that he was a Klitschko fan........... Oooooooh Yeeeeeeah..... as my old pal Satchmo used to say.
And your "old pal Sachmo" use to say "Ooooooooooh Yeeeeeeeah", and you're trying to insinuate something about me an Joseph. Lmao!!!
There's no argument about it...it's a plain FACT which can be seen and heard on almost ANY broadcast in which he featured. He LOVES it. I couldn't care less.Comment

[QUOTE=edgarg;3768702]You have no idea about your subject. W Klitschko suffered NO KO's there were 3 TKO's. All explicable by facts, and not one of them ANYTHING to do either with his expertise, chin, or stamina. If you'd heard Manny Steward on that subject you'd doubtless know more....unless your ears are stuffed with "wax". He talked about it enough.
S Klitschko lost 3 fights and Lewis lost 2, also by KO. One a TKO and the other a KO. Also he stole the fight in his majority decision over Ray Mercer. And he openly fouled Michael Grant when he grabbed him behind the neck and uppercutted him to a KO. He should have been DQ'd.
I'm didn't say a single solitary thing about his skill level, but you, for an unknown reason, chose to introduce it.
My evaluation of Lewis' love of the limelight have nothing to do with how many times he or Klitschko have been KO'd, and I don't know why or how the hell that came into it.
To someone like you, who can't have a civilized discussion where you have an opposite opinion, who can't separate personal feeling from your evaluation of a fighter, it's difficult to make you understand. Ignorance can be remedied, but ******ity is forever.Comment

I don't think he fought "terrible". It's true, he didn't walk all over Thompson. But it was an interesting fight. Thompson has never been walked over by anyone, had only 1 loss and was a damned awkward fighter with a different style. he didn't become top condender as a birthday gift.Comment

Even a half wit who could read, would know that I wasn't "offering proof" but stating my opinion. Where does it say that I was offering proof?? When I offer proof I SAY SO CLEARLY. And....like you...I'm entitled to my opinion. And that the publishers see fit to print it, shows that they also feel I'm entitled to my opinion.
Soooo..... whadda ya goin' t' do abad it?? Nuttin' I would say. But, blow off as much hot air as you wish.....be my guest. If you want a reasonable, politely conducted discussion on boxing I'm your man, otherwise-go away.Comment

Hey, remember the talk before the fight. EVERYONE AGREED: Thompson was moving up in class to meet Klitschko. Now he's a good fighter? Klitschko fought a late prospect, that was all. Other than being 36 already, Thompson's record is worse than many prospects out there. FACT.Comment

[QUOTE=edgarg;3769050]You sound a little simple to me. Wellllll-what of it anyway. You're entitled to your opinion as much as I am. But I can't exactly pin down your opinion.

Well, how would you have fought against a 6'5" tall 250lb heavyweight who was trained to a "hair' to win this fight, whose only loss had been 8 years before in his 5th fight against an unbeaten fighter...Oh Yes, and it was a FOUR ROUND FIGHT. The guy had won 30 in a row. The guy could be regarded as an unbeaten fighter for heaven's sake, one of only 4 who'd beaten Vaughn Bean, one of the most difficult fighters in the game. [The other's who beat him were Evander Holyfield, Michael Moorer (both heavyweight Champs) and Vitali Klitschko, who scored the sole KO in his record]Comment

Don't flatter yourself. Your comments about Lewis say it all. Don't blame me for the way they come across. You think Lewis got a "gift" against Ray Mercer and he "fouled" his way to a win over Michael Grant. That speaks for itself and I don't need to say another thing on this topic.
If he was one of the guys I've been dis*****g with, he wouldn't have enough sense to do that.Comment
