He was 5'11 and as big as he was, you expected him to walk through his opponents, but no he gets punished badly by guy's who are much smaller then him, why? Because he was fighting at his opponents weight. Pavlik would lose to Cotto too if he tried draining himself to 147. I'm not saying Williams is going to win, but he does have a chance.
well put, but I don't really see that happening. But it does make some sense...

I also can't understand why PW is considering this... Unless he's having incredible problems making welter-I mean he is currently next in line for any of the big money WW bouts.

Has it ever been done? I know its been down from Welterweight to Middleweight back in the day with Ray Robinson, but has it been done that a fighter has jumped from Welterweight (147) to Middleweight (160), skipping over 154, and won at title? I don't think its been done.
**** a world title. this is for the undisputed crown via lineage. hopkins > taylor > pavlik > williams lol that would be nuts. this fight should not happen for any reason right now. if it happens, paul got a death wish but some huge cojones. I will be rooting for him, but Pavlik got it easy.

I think you're right. I know somebody who was introduced to him before the second Quintana fight, and he said physically Williams looked sickly. The same person told me Williams was going to either fight Collazo for helping him prepare for the Quintana fight or move up, I guess he's moving on up.

It's an intriguing fight. I'm looking forward to it.

I want to see Williams fight PAv. Who wouldn't? I always root for the naturally smaller guy anyway.

why move up 2 divisions to fight pavlik?
cause unlike most fighters he wants to pursue great challenges and test his limits as a fighter. i think him fighting pavlik is very brave given pavliks power.

i think williams is very brave to take this fight. but i think it would have been better if he did a fight before pavlik. moving up in weight and going straight after the champion is risky. but hey maybe paul williams feels thats what being a fighter is all about.
