Joe Calzaghe vs. Roy Jones Jr: Final Fight For Joe?

Yes, but the PPV money would be there with either site. The attendance is more icing on the cake.
100k seats times and average of $ 75.00 a ticket is about 7.5 million UK dollars. That's a low figure and still alot of money for one event. The fighters see a percentage of the gate as well. Don't think that they don't.Comment

I'm gonna answer each part of your statement paragraph by paragraph to see which part you avoid.
1. So now Jones wasn't "keen" on the fight. Tell me...if you were the world's best fighter, an established PPV fighter and the bigger name, would u go fight some nobody in his little country for less money? The answer is yes if you're a Calzaghe nuthugger who believes their hero deserved whatever his little heart desired.
2. Jones didn't get an immediate fight at 168 against Toney. Go do your homework. He made only ONE defense of his MW title because he couldn't make weight. Nearly ALL his fights after Hopkins (and before Toney) were at SMW already. he officially moved up fighting highly-ranked Merqui Sosa BEFORE Toney. Got it?
3. We don't know how many hoops Calzaghe would've had to go through because he didn't try, now do we? Unless telling some obscure reporter that you'd like to fight Roy Jones is your idea of "trying."
Go away. You'll probably stop watching boxing once Calzaghe retires. Fraud...
2.at you telling me to do my homework when Jones fought Toney in 94 and Sosa 2 years later. Funny stuff.
3. What did Clinton Woods and co do to get a shot at Jones? Im wondering. Use your brain. Calzaghe was a threat to Jones, Jones knew it, he thought better of the risk.

Joe got down early to an excellent fighter in Kessler, and came back to completely dominate the fight and tire his opponent out. He also displayed the great chin he has.
Against Hopkins, who easily weighed 190 after rehydrating, he took the best B-Hop could give, and then once again, completely took over the fight in the mid, to late rounds. It was Hopkins who feigned getting donked in the sack (which the replay clearly debunks) to get a rest, because he was simply getting dominated by that point.
Calzaghe proved in both contests that he has heart, stamina, and a champion's will to keep fighting even if falling behind early.
Cal doesn't have the same zip on his punches that he used to, but he's 35+ now. Jones lost his first fight (as the DQ doesn't count) once he reached that age. In fact, he got KO'd hard.
There are threads all over this place with links to quotes and articles about Jones and Hopkins being asked during their MW days (and Jones' SMW days) about fighting Calzaghe. In each instance, they turned it down simply because of Joe's lack of name recognition in the states, and because they wanted more money. Doesn't sound like the heart of a champion to turn down a legitimate champ/contender over money.
"Why make $4 million when I can make $10 million? Even if the average American family could retire with $500K and smart investments, I'm a greedy punk who's afraid to fight the best unless I get way more money than they get."
I love RJJ, and believe he's a top 10 all-time p4p fighter based on his achievements. He's also been far more congenial in his negotiations with JoeCal than was B-Hop. So no disrespect to him, but Calzaghe deserves to be in the same breath. He's legit. Calling his fans babies or whatever doesn't change that. Your opinions matter no more than theirs.Comment
