as far as fighting ROY in his PRIME... get your facts straight bro.... wasn't there a thread about that already?????..... wrong on you pimpin', in 99 I believe JOE said "I DON'T WANT TO FIGHT ROY JONES JR".... Joe knew he couldnt win.... it wasn't up until Jones lost did lil joey want anything....
He didnt say that in 1999 you fool. He said it after Jones had been knocked out twice in a row. No one wanted to fight Jones then.
Roy has since come back pretty well and looked good against Trinidad. Hes still one of the best at 175. And Joe has virtually admitted this is a final payday anyway.Comment

Roy took very little risk towards the end of his light heavyweight reign. Calzaghe expressed the desire to move up and fight him several times but Roy was notoriously difficult to negotiate with. Jones was more willing to fight the likes of Clinton Woods knowing he'd secure a large chunk of the purse and have an easy nights work rather than risk his record against Calzaghe.Comment

That is true. I did hear Jones state that, but I think that was when he did'nt think that Joe would fight the first fight over here. Now that he is, I think Joe will be the one pushing for the rematch just in case he does lose. Sounds to me like he has a little doubt. I don't blame him. It's Rjj for crying out loud. He did'nt lose until his 51st fight by a lucky-closed eye punch.Comment

The only reason RJJ wanted a fight in Wales and then US was to get Joe in the ring. Plus thats two big paydays!! "I'd love to go to Wales and fight in front of 70,000 or 90,000 people," Jones said. "I'd like to propose a two-fight deal. We fight the first one over there, and if there's a reason to have a second one, we'd fight it over here." That's homework bitches!!Comment

yes IM PRETTY SURE IT WAS 99 dude.... because Jones was still a champ, and that's all joe was talking about (not about him loosing, because it didn't happen yet). He also said he had to much speed and power to risk fighting him... hey Joe might have said that several times... who knows... either way it don't matter cause now that jones is older, and with Pavlik beating Tarver and the POS lockett, Joe wants some of jones. Its safe to say he's looking for a money fight. He will get his money but i believe that fighter he was scared to fight back in the day is back to upset Joe's plans... maybe not the PRIME jones but a jones that still could beat a sloppy joe any day......
Well you're wrong. And we've already established that you cant see past your hate for Calzaghe so you'll just make things up.Comment
