Why Mayweather not fighting Margarito because of Baldo is bu!!****!

I have heard from countless Floyd fans that the reason Floyd fought Baldomir instead of Margarito, was because Baldomir was the Undisputed/Linear WW Champ, and had more to offer than Margarito did. Me personally, i doubt that was the "real" reason. This is why:

When Arum made Floyd the $8mil offer to fight Margarito, Floyd had yet to secure an opponent for his Nov 4th ppv date. He then went desperately scrambling for an opponent, when all along, Margarito was the only one willing to step in the ring with him. Not to mention, Margo was the #1 ranked WW at the time. Floyd went looking for fights with Shane (even though Shane had already stated that he will be taking the rest of the year off). He tried to get Oscar in the ring, but Oscar was in retirement mode at the time. He even went as low as to try to secure a fight with Cory Spinks! (Thank god that idea got shut down). Floyd ONLY choices were Margarito, or Baldomir (given Baldo beat Gatti). Floyd crossed his fingers, and prayed to the gods in hope of a Baldomir win. So my question is, if all along he had the option of fighting the #1 ranked WW for a career high payday, why wait, gamble, and risk losing out, in hopes that Baldomir beats Gatti? What would Floyd have done if Gatti won? There is no way on earth Gatti's people or HBO would've let that happen again, so what would Floyd have done? An even better question is, If Floyd's intentions were to go after Baldomir's titles/belts, why was Baldomir Floyd's last choice??? If you're after the WW champ, why do u go looking for fights with guys like Spinks and Shane? Floydboyz will argue that Floyd chose Baldomir over Margarito because Baldomir had the titles. Why wasnt Baldomir Floyd's first option then?????

Read my above post. Floyd was on the verge of canceling a nov 4th ppv date, and a career high payday in order to not face Margarito. Like i stated above, what would Floyd have done if Gatti beat Baldomir that night?

Floyds whole motives were to retire undefeated. He cherry picked his fights carefully and got what he wanted.

Chosing to fight a WBO champ that can't even beat Santos over Baldomir(UNIFIED CHAMPION) or Judah would have been cherry picking.

Baldomir was the hottest guy at 147 at the time..Marge was(and is) NOBODY.

Tony puts all his weight on his front foot and has to be SET TO PUNCH...in other words..

He couldn't hit Floyd with rice at a wedding.

Cherry picking is fighting Manuel Gomez..Sebastian Lujuan..and Golden Johsnon.

Baldomir is better than Margarito IMO.

He is just better and far more experince but Floyd made him look bad because he is very skillfull.

similar to Pacquia and David Dia, Diaz is good but not that good and Manny made him look very very bad.

How did u come up with that assesment? Comparing thier records? Comparing thier opponents? They only noteworthy person that Baldomir beat was Judah. If u want to give him credit for Gatti, then u have to give Gomez the same credit. Clottey was whooping that ass up until he got dq'd for headbutts.

Soon as that happened..Floyd's camp contacted Baldomir..who turned him down because he wanted to make at least one defense before fighting Mayweather..that's understandable.

The very next move they made was Tony..

Arum was offering 8,000,000 and he wanted option on Floyd next 2 fights (this is after Floyd paid 750,000 to gt out of his contract)

Baldimir paid 8,000,001 and was for the linear championship with no option. Plus Baldy was the most talk about fighter in 2006

19 fight undefeated and he got a long way to get his title shot.

Clottey was also beating Margarito intell he broke his hand you could also argue with that. and you fight with you hands not with you head.


Zab Judah is better than most of what Margarito fought in his entire career to be frank because he was undisputed champion and nobody expected Baldomir to do anything.

The real question is, why would Floyd offer a fight to a guy who already has a scheduled ppv date? I understand that it was against a B.S opponent, but still. Its like when Floyd called Shane out AFTER Shane announced that he would be taking the rest of the year off. If u ask me, he did that in order to say that he offered them both fights, and they turned him down/ducked him.

Fight Margarito who knowbody knows for 8,000,000 and a paper title.

OR

Fight the boxing story of the year Carlos Baldomir for 8,000,000 AND the Lineal WW Title.

Someone pointed out there was a big gap between his fight with Judah and Baldo so he could've thought Baldo then.
