Roy Jones Jr. vs. Joe Calzaghe is Set, Sam Peter Next?

I agree, in fact I think that in his recent wins over Hanshaw and Trinidad he has actually looked worse than he did in his Tarver and Johnson bouts. To me he looks weak and frail, with no stamina. He still has excellent handspeed but only occasionally, most of his punches are just 'normal'. I fear he isn't going to be able to live with Calzaghe at all.

In a way it is a bit sad. However I found myself happy when the fight was signed. I dunno, its wierd, I love the man so much I just wanna see him get out there in the ring regardless. I just hope he doesn't get brutally KOd again. Although I don't think Joe has the necessary power anyway. Basically, I hope Roy does himself pround and at least shows some flashes of what has made him my favourite fighter and IMO one of the 10 greatest p4p all time boxers.

Faster than Roy? You lost credibility on that. Workrate is the only thing Calzaghe has on Roy. Leave it at that. Jones' power , speed and counter ability will offset Joe's workrate. Don't believe me? Hopkins did it. Watch and see Jones take it to another level.

yeah, I agree Jones NEVER needed "WORK RATE" he just knocked mother ****ers out and danced around like it was cake work.... Jones is light years faster than joe... Like stated Joe has the "work rate" edge.... You need WORK RATE when your punches are referred to as "slaps" or "Armature piddle pats" or just straight up a "joke", or just get laughed at when someone talks about his "power"..... all he has is endurance and "work rate" Like stated Jones has power, speed and is the counter king....That's IF only he comes 100%. Which I believe he will... It will be one hell of a match... I cant wait...

Trust me, Jones can and will throw more than (2) punches at a time with someone who punches like Calzaghe. He does'nt have to worry about the counter KO firepower and will let his hand go. That said, I gaurantee no matter what happens. Joe will not win easy. I pick Jones to win and pretty easy acually. Maybe by KO.

RJJ only allows fighters with strength and power get him against the ropes so he can counter pounch and back them off. this fight will remain in the middle of the ring as the trinidad fight was mostly. and just like that fight jones will beat joe to the punch. joe is not aggressive. and whoever said joe was stronger than lacy...your ****in ******. joe was just the better fighter. strength had nothin to do with that.

Lacy was over hyped and had nothing on Joes boxing style... Lacy was looking for that "one" punch with his short arms. He could never get inside... Jones will have no problem.... in fact, Joe will think "more than twice" before he slaps away..... If jones goes to the ropes, its to let Joe throw his slaps or punches if you may, and will counter to the body and back Joe off.... (something you probably already know)

I know boxing styles and I know that Jones has the proper style to give Joe the worst look of his life. He is the perfect counter to what Joe does well. Joe does not come forward with bullying power shots like Johnson , he moves and side slaps hooks and lunges, etc... That will spell dissaster when he is in with someone with superior reflexes and speed , combined with punching power at that weight. Hopkins has no LHW power, or else he would have KO'd Joe and Tarver with those straight right hands. They were both landed about as square as possible. Jones on the other hand is known for his crisp power shots and can clip Joe with his speed without Joe knowing what happened. I honestly don't know why Joe took this fight. It's trouble. The Calzaghe fans will hate me after that fight is over. It will end in either a KO for Jones, or a decent decision after a not so competative fight from Joe. Calzaghe will be hurt at one point, I know it. The question is whether he will make it out on his feet. I have no doubt that Joe will not be able to hurt Rjj with those type of arm punches. The punches that Jones was hurt with were stepped into with Tarver and Johnsons whole bodies. I don't think Joe is capable of that type of punch at LHW.
