Bernard Hopkins was a tough opponent, and he made the fight closer than Kessler did, but it wasn't the kind of close where he ever put Joe in any trouble or threatened to beat him based outright on what he did in the ring.

Kessler gave Calzaghe more actual trouble in an offensive sense, even if the cards at the end weren't as close.

I think Chris Eubank deserves a mention too, because it was one of Joe's toughest most competitive fights and I suspect that for the twenty-five year old Joe that Eubank was an even tougher opponent than either Kessler or Hopkins was later.

Wasnt Eubank like 31/32 and semi-retired when joe calzaghe fought him?

No.

Eubank then went on and should have won the Cruiserweight title against the man who KTFO David Haye.

Eubank was a force of nature. That was by far Calzaghe's best win because it was Eubank and because he was a rookie who had barely been beyond 3 rounds due to being so much better than the domestic and European opposition.

Hopkins? Top 5. Calzaghe's pretty past his peak as well now, which most people seem to be forgetting.

u should base it on there credentials at that point in time if u think Mitchell had the better credentials at that point in time fair enough im just saying that his performance against Joe contradicted that when u view Brewers performance against Joe it leaves a good indication of what each respective fighter had left in the tank
